Here's a great website that compares various online ammo and firearm related merchandise.

I use this all the time.

I was...til I discovered cigars!

(I do have several hundred rounds, at a minimum, for each of my weapons, thousands for a few.)

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

Been trying to stock up on .45 for a while now, I have about 500 rounds, but it's so hard to find & so expensive that I might not buy anymore for a while.

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

While wally world is hit or miss if you have a cool manager you can ask them to order what they can get and thier bulk packs are actually pretty decent deals.

My local store has .223 which is getting very hard to find for 100 for 36 and 200 for 78.

they are slightly different rounds that why the price doesnt continue to fall.

They also sell a 9, 40 and 45 bulk pack as well

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

I would be stocking up via my Dillion progressive press using the thousands of empty casings, pounds of powder and boxes of bullets I have laying around. Only issue is I cannot find small pistol primers anywhere! Whenever I get a email from midway.com saying they got them back in stock they are sold out by the time I can click on the link . It is rather annoying.

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

+1

My Dillion 1050 has been on a diet for the last 3 months, primers and word that powder may be getting short also.

If someone is near me NOVA, AL, or in between PM me I might have some laying around to get you by until after the shortage. (Note: I do not have a FFL so I can not make ammo for you only factory stuff I don't want)

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

Starting last Nov, people did start hording. The fear of the Obamanation and what he wants to do to gunowners caused a real panic. However, it wasnt long until unscrupulous people were going into gun shops and buying whatever they could get, only to put it up for sale on gun sites like gunbroker for triple. Now, nearly every shop in the area has limits on how many boxes per day you can buy. Prices have simply gone apey. My closest wally world has seen 10 boxes of .45 acp since January. Talking to counter jockeys in other places, they say they get it in and it's gone in a matter of hours.

I work at UPS and have actually seen law enforcement agencies shipping inter-departmentally; a sign that they can't get ammo either.

Reloaders are pretty much SOL too. Components are extremely scarce. Remington and ATK (Federal Speer, etc) are running 18 shifts a week, trying to keep up with demand, yet there's still no ammo out there.

I also believe that we are supplying the mexican drug cartels. Cases on cases are being taken across the border into mexico.

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

Prices are slowly (and I mean slowly) starting to come down. I wish the bottom would fall out like it did with the AR-15/magazine market did, basically over night. Part of the problem, I think, is the internet. So much buzz created on every forum, people posting up deals to be had which would then sell out in seconds.

Re: Stocking up on ammo?

I haven't bought ammo in a long time... shooting was put on hold while things got expensive. I had to find some 9mm for a match this last weekend, so I stopped by a WalMart. They had NO pistol ammo. Only some .22lr.

Went to Academy and they did have plenty on hand, but only cheap Monarch 9mm. At least it's brass cased. $11.99/50. I remember when 9mm was less than $7/50 and the 100 round packs at WalMart were less than $11.
