new to home roasting
Can anyone recommend a good nutty espresso bean to roast?I plan on using a Popcorn popper as I am new and do not know if I will be wanting to buy a roaster.
In coffee I buy pre roasted I like to get sweet nutty smelling espresso as many espressos have a bitter smell and its hard to find a good nutty flavor with a sweet smell. If anyone can recoomend a bean and where to get it I would love it. Also also if you have any roasting tips or links to how-to's I know I have not read them all or even enough yet really. I love to drink coffee while I smoke so this might be a fun new hobby for me to start. Love that coffee. Thanks in advance |

Re: new to home roasting
GREAT that gives be a broad area to choose from any thing that adds some subtle sweetness to possible blend with and a fairly bold flavor too? I dont know if this is a weird blend or common? bold nutty with a sweet smell.

Re: new to home roasting
Blending and roasting for your own espresso is anything but easy, but it's rewarding when it finally tastes good. Sweetmarias.com and coffeegeek.com both have roasting forums that dwell on these topics. There just aren't many here that blend for their own espresso; the other forums might offer more advice.

75 % brazil
25 % guat will give you a good basic italian esperesso blend. Some articles on blending here: http://www.sweetmarias.com/coffee.other.blends.html http://www.home-barista.com/espresso-blending.html Lot of good pre-made blends available as green coffee from sweet marias and other vendors--easier than blending your own to start with. |
