UB's El Mayimbe Blend

So far I have roasted this blend to just a hint before VG 2nd crack but have a feeling (as well as a hint from the puppetmaster himself) that going a few seconds into 2nd crack might yield something quite interesting. That will be tried this weekend.

This tasted pretty good 12 hours after roast. Full and oily with a Kenya-like but mild earthiness. Sealed it back up.

2 days after roast there were nice obvious dark chocolate and caramel flavors...not tones or notes, but full up flavors. Also had a woodsy aroma, like a dry hardwood with a bit of a dry mouthfeel.

End of the 3rd day post-roast as well as morning of 4th day BAM-O!!! I kid you not, full on cocoa flavor that was so sweet that Tina drank a cup black! The mouthfeel was full yet smooth and coated without being oily. As we sipped we both thought we found bits of strawberry, but it was so sweet, and we were so caught off guard, that we couldn't be sure. As the cup cooled a bit towards halfway the cocoa faded a bit, the sweetness stayed and a very creamy taste and feel came on strong.

I took this to work the next day and people literally flipped out, accusing me of flavoring the coffee. This is even when brewed thru the Bunn Speed Piss-o-matic. They went so far as to demand to smell the grinds looking for telltale cocoa packets.

Looking forward to see what develops or fades for the day 6-7 brew tomorrow. Personally I'd have to call this a single shot coffee. getting into a second cup can almost be too much cocoa unless you are really in the mood for it. certainly plan to keep some of this green on the shelf.

You have to grind finer to ensure max extraction.
