Nice to meet you.
Hello all! Two things I love are cigars and coffee. I just saw that this site has coffee forums, awesome.
I really have no knowledge of coffee other than I drink it everyday. Several times a day. I would like to expand my horizons, where can I get some neat sampler packs? From what I can see there are quite a few home roast made around here. I am open to try new things. **note - not asking for free stuff. Don't want anyone to get the wrong Idea** Zitro Last edited by zitro_joe; 10-18-2008 at 05:34 PM.. |

Try reposting in the Coffee Discussion Forum and expect more replies than... uh, none. If all else fails, pm me. Also, it isn't clear is you are also wanting to start roasting your own or just seeking better pre-roasted beans. Also, it helps to know how you brew coffee and if you already have a grinder or not. And so on and so on and so on. ![]()

Ha, I thought I did post there. I am not interested in roasting my own, just want to try some new stuff. I do have my own grinder. Thanks for the reply. Zitro |

Re: Nice to meet you.
I think you should take a look at this again. I have been home roasting for about a year. I have to say that it really makes that much of a difference. You have total control of the bean selection (down to a specific coffee estate bean) and roast level. And yes, roast precision is important to getting the most out of a particular bean. Heck, you don't have to spend oodles of money to get started. My first roaster was a hot air popcorn popper. People also use a metal bowl and heat gun to roast.

Re: Nice to meet you.
I second the notion of homeroasting, it really does make a huge difference! but atleast you grind your coffee yourself
depending on your likings, I'd go for a Costa Rican or Mexcian coffee .. not too complex, with the right smooth coffee taste (in general) but not too bland like some Brazilians might be .. if you want a little more kick and acidity go for an Afrcian coffee .. these are general recommendations from my own experience ![]()
