I've had pretty good luck with a trio of Brazillians I picked up from ButtWhiskers on the Green coop.

I've only tried a handful of different beans but i must say I've gotten wonderful results roasting Guatemala Antigua both with a popcorn popper and an IRoast

I am quite partial to the Africans, Harar and Kenyan being my favorites. I also am quite taken with Brazilian coffees and most Island coffee.

Re: Your Favorite Bean to Roast

I roasted some Yirg just until the first sign of second crack and like it very much. Not as bright and winey as just after first crack, but very smooth and chocolaty.

Re: Your Favorite Bean to Roast

I always keep some Costa Rican on hand. Bolivian Organic is still on my list. Also something from CBC called Kauai Kahuna.

BTW, hi. I'm not on much because my work blocks a lot of stuff.

Steve, I gotta find time to call and come over for a smoke after work soon. The weather's getting cooler finally.

Re: Your Favorite Bean to Roast

I like roasting Costa Rican beans because they always LOOK so good when they come out of the roaster and, as Billy Crystal often said Argentinian actor Fernando Lamas once said, "It's better to look good than to feel good."

And it tastes marvelous.
