Re: Sudbury - Victory Cigar Bar

Went to an Ashton event here last night. Overall a decent place. It was kind of a small place but recently rennovated. The bar was small and therefore had a limited selection but did have beer, wine, and the hard stuff. The humi had a decent selection as well with some hard to find stuff like Ashton ESG's. The humi was running on the wet side though and a cigar bought by massphatness got a cracked wrapper as soon as he lit it up likely because of the humidity. There were also a good number of damaged cigars in the humi from cracked foots to cracked wrappers. This was likely due to the humidity again and the large number of people there for the event. Prices were what you would expect for a cigar bar in MA.

My only real complaint was that they didn't have very good air circulation. The air was THICK with smoke.

Overall, a decent place in an unlikely location. I would definitely go back.

Oh yeah. The website in the above post is not for this establishment. There is another Victory Cigar Bar in Worcester which is not associated with this establishment. According to one of the owners of this bar that I spoke with, one of the former owners opened another location in Worcester.

Re: Sudbury - Victory Cigar Bar

After some searching I found the correct web address for this establishment:

http://www.thevictorycigarbar.com/

The web page listed in the first post is for Victory Cigar Bar in Worcester. The two establishments are not affiliated.

Very dull wine list. Good prices for a glass of port. I wonder what their bottle prices are? Do they charge a lighting fee if you bring a smoke? I am not a fan of that, but can understand if that's what it takes to stay in business.

Sandeman 20 year Tawny Port $11; not bad at all.

Looks like a decent enough place. I forget where Sudbury is?

This place is right on Rt. 20. Sudbury is just west of Wayland.

Victory strikes me as a very casual place. I can't see them charging a lighting/cutting fee. I smoked my own last time I was there but it was for a manufacturer's event and it was crowded. So, enforcing a rule like that would have been difficult under the circumstances.

Doesn't sound too far from Brighton, I should ride my bike out there some time and check them out. We do port tastings, and maybe they would like to host one? Usually we would let them charge us a corking fee on the bottles, or they could buy the bottles off of us and then we buy them back... It depends how the owners are.

Re: Sudbury - Victory Cigar Bar

This place used to be owned by the same people that own the other Victory Cigar in Worcester, thus the same name and confusion. I was there at the "hand-over" event and chatted with both the old and new owners, though I can't remember any names unfortunately (I rarely do). I believe the new owners were allowed to continue using the Victory name for customer familiarity sake.

I've been there about 10 times and was always impressed with the friendly relaxed staff and atmosphere. I'm also impressed with the liquor and beer selection for such a tiny bar. I've smoked my own about half those times with no troubles or charges.

When the weather is warmer there is patio seating out front for a pleasant smoke and drink in the fresh air.

Let me know if you do that. I would attend.

Re: Sudbury - Victory Cigar Bar

If someone is "in" with the owners, ask if they would like to host a port or madeira tasting. They can charge a corking fee on each bottle. I can supply the bottles and we just divide per person how much they cost with the corking fees included. We usually estimate about 1/2-3/4 a bottle per person and the depth of pockets dictates how fancy we'll go...
