Flor de Oliva - Natural

Sam & Dave,

The other day Sam posted about the Flor de Oliva as a bargain smoke, so I decided to dig out a Natural and light it up.

I've had these last few for about a year now and found it to be very consistent to what I remembered from the last one I smoked.

My question is What is up with the wrapper on this stick?
This is by far the most floral/sweet tasting wrapper that I ever remember tasting. This is a flavor I get on my lips while puffing. Is there some sort of process which makes the wrapper sweet or is it just something special about the wrapper?

Sam wants you to believe that size matters... I am here to tell you that is not the case!

The cigar you smoked was a Flor de Oliva "Original". Not the Gold, Corojo, or Maduro. It would say "Gold", "Corojo", etc on the band. The Original is just a Natural Sumatra wrapper with no other name on the band (besides Flor de Oliva).

Your taste experience was exactly correct.

The cap on the FDO Originals is affixed on the head of the cigar with the same "cigar glue" as other cigars, but with trace amounts of sweetener. Don't tell anyone I told you. I just tore down a wall and let you in on a little secret. No other cigar in our lines has this "recipe" for the glue.

Some people (like myself) will clip more off this cigar to minimize the sweetness. BUT...Most people that buy this cigar, smoke it because of the subtle sweet taste that you get on your lips and tongue.

The national consumption totals for this cigar are staggering. If I say that it's quite popular, it's like saying Donald Trump has some money. It doesnt do it justice.

I had maduro's with that sweet tip. It was very noticable. I bought that bundle about a year ago.
