Oliva Classic

Hey Sam,
I picked up this stick at a B&M this weekend and I'm not sure really what it is. Is this the predecessor to the Serie G Cameroon? I didn't see any information on the Oliva website...maybe I overlooked it. Any information would be great.

If I remember correctly its supposed to be the same blend as the original Oliva O's with the red cloth band (sungrown wrapper). I think the Bold was introduced because the wrapper for the original O's got scarce (Sam, correct me if I'm wrong on that one). Once the original wrapper was more plentiful the cigar was reintroductd as the O Classic. I think the Serie S is the current incarnation.

Great flavor! It was a little tight, but I think the humidity at the B&M was a little too high. I'm gonna let the other one I picked up sit for another week and see how it smokes.

The "O Classic" IS the Serie O...We just changed the packaging to streamline the Oliva line...The cigar has not changed. The Grand Camaroon is the Serie G and the "Oliva Maduro" (blue bands) is the Serie O Maduro...

I am impressed...your close.

The ORIGINAL "O" was a red Silk band...This wrapper was very thick and the wrapper was a private stash from Gilberto Sr. to his sons to make a premium cigar with...It took off but was short lived due to the limited amount of this wrapper...

The O bold was created to replace it...They knew the cigar was different, and couldn't call it the O, plus it was more full bodied.

The O Bold, while desired by many, wasn't a big seller and was completely discontinued..

The O Classic was created to replicate the Original O as closely as possible, because of the high demand that the Original O created...The O classic was last years CA's #9 cigar on the 25 best cigars of the year with a 92 rating. (again it is now called the Serie O, with a package upgrade...SAME CIGAR...we wouldn't change this baby.

The Special S is by no means the O Bold...The Special S is a completely different blend...The wrapper is Ecuadurian Sun Grown, cured for 3-4 years, then aged loose in Cedar crates for 5 years...it is then aged an additional year as a cigar...A must try if you haven't already.

If you ever see any Silk Banded O's, Bolds, or Maduros...man you have to pick them up...they are incredibly hard to find with the Original "O" being almost extinct...

Thanks for the questions!

Sam, thanks for the information. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Silk Banded sticks.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for straightening out the details.

I loved the original O's - smoked through a bunch of them too. Was the wrapper on those also a sungrown leaf? Seems like thats what I was told at the shop I frequent. Haven't had that many of the Bolds but I enjoyed the ones I had.

Haven't seen the S's yet. Need to keep watching for them - I'm a bit of a sungrown nut so I'd definitely like to give those a try.
