I agree with this. The last G i had was really lose.

Thanks for all the replies fellas.
Seems like its definately isolated to me and my humi. I'll get it figured out eventually and keep you all posted as to what I did different or if the problem doesn't remedy itself. I have a few more torps and a robusto left from the order where I got all of the troubled ones from, and thanks to SingleMaltScott I have a Serie G maduro to try.

I've smoked piles of these dog logs and never had a draw problem. I have my complaints about the Special 'S', but every other Oliva has burned perfect. Any other cigars from that retailer exhibit the same kinds of problems?

Cannot get a break?

So I have readjusted the humi and moved the cigars around.
Now here's what happened with my recent lite up for lunch break today of my Serie O robusto...
I cannot get a break with my Olivas

That looks like there was too much moisture in there and when it heated up and expanded, it burst. I've never had any issue with any Oliva smokes.

Yep, I think this was my humi and not the Olivas. But I still haven't had any other problems with any other brands including my Sol Cubanos.
I'm gonna have to watch my Olivas much closer I think.

I really enjoy Oliva cigars, but yesterday, I had a Series O torpedo that I had been saving, and trying to draw on that cigar was like trying to suck air out of an uninflated balloon. It was disappointing, but, it just may have been that one cigar rolled by that one person, so I'll try again with another one.

I hate when that happens! I have not had that problem with Oliva. They are usually an excellent draw. My all time worst experience with draw has got to be the 5 Vegas Cask Strength. About 3 out of 4 draw like a broomstick. Arrrrr!

I am sorry to hear about your experience. There is nothing worse than a cigar that you cannot smoke. That is the ultimate tease.

I just wanted to offer along that a cigar that does not draw does not typically mean the roller over filled or rolled the binder/wrapper too tight, but usually has more to do with humidity vs. construction.

I am by no means saying that every cigar that we roll is perfect, as they are rolled by human hands, but the majority of all draw and burn issues can be traced back to humidity. If a cigar reaches higher humidity, the tobacco can swell, clogging the draw chambers of the cigar.

In most cases this is the case.

I promise you, I smoke more Oliva's than just about anyone...In the realm of 5a day, and I cannot tell you the last time I have ever had a draw issue. That is the honest truth.

Just a little advice on picking a cigar from a B&M walk in...

-Make sure that the humidification that the B&M uses is not blowing directly on the cigars. I see this all of the time...

-Gently...and i cannot stress the word gently enough, squeeze the foot (AND ONLY THE FOOT) of the cigar...if it is too soft...tell the tobacconist and pick another.

-Also, never swim with your cigars...(okay...just kidding...just trying to keep this response light)

I am by no means "passing the buck" but I have rolled and smoked enough cigars to know that most draw/burn issues are related to humidity inconsistancies.

As an experiment, grab a cheap cigar out of your humi and put it into a tupperware container with a wet paper towel...get the humidiy levels up above 78%...once u have achieved a consistant high humidity for 5 or so days...smoke the cigar...there's a good chance that you'll get the same result.

And just to answer a potential question...we do draw test our cigars.

Please do not take this as a "fire back" response, I just wanted to offer other reasons why a cigar may not be drawing.

I don't think anyone will take your response as anything other then informative and constructive bud!

All their cigars burn and draw well. I've smoked hundreds of them and never had one problem. My only problem with Olivas is they take up all the space in my humi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
