Drawing woes of Oliva?

Has anyone else run into problems with any Oliva being hard to draw.
Every one I've had I find the draw a bit hard and wondering if its just me, my humidor, or the sticks?
Over the last 2 months or so, of the Olive O robusto, torps, and G maduro and cameroon dbl robusto, toro, and torps that I've lit up; all have had draws that were quite difficult. Especially the G dbl robusto I had last night. Probably the worst of what I've had of Ovila on the draw and had a re-light 3 times.
I hate to have to post this kinda thing but as there seems to be an over abundance of Oliva fans here I'm hoping I can get some feed back on what the deal is.
Otherwise, on all of them I found the contruction great, perfect ashing all the time, and nice flavor prolifes. But thats when I could actually get any smoke cause the draw is crazy hard on these.

Man, I have never had one problem with the draw on an Oliva. I have smoked the whole line-up. It may be too humid in your humidor.

I agree with John, I think you got a bad batch or they are just too wet..I have only had a few Olivas draw badly on me before, and that was only on a few of the cheaper ones the serie G and such, never had one problem on a higher line at all... keep trying you are bound to get one that will make you a believer!!!

My humidor sits pretty consistent at 65 to 68 and works fine for the other sticks sittin' in there as I don't seem to have a problem with any other line up. But I'll keep a close eye on it as will I try to see if any other sticks seem to do the same as the La Aroma de Cuba corona I had the other night was a hard draw too. Hmmmm.....

The only problems I have had with any Oliva (or FdO for that matter) was my fault - too much humidity. 68% rh is perfect for these guys. Have you double-checked your hygrometer with a second (preferably) dgital one?

Hate to agree with Webby, you need to check your gauge. Also are your oliva's at the top next to the humidifiers? Might want to put them at the bottom. We sell lots of Oliva's and really never had a problem with them being hard to draw. Are they very moist to the touch?

They are not moist at all. Quite dry for the most part. And I have tested my hygrometer and its dead on so maybe the placement nearer the bottom will benefit. I'm moving the las few Oliva torps I have now. Thanks. Hope that works.

smokinj I would say grab a few more of those torps from a diff B&M to ensure that they are from a diff batch. The torps are my size in the serie G, I buy them buy the box and have only had a few with a bad draw..

Jeff, sounds like all has been covered...humidity, calibrating you hygro, etc. I've never had a draw problem with the Olivas, but the La Aroma de Cuba's are another story...5 out of the last 5 I smoked had draw problems. I finally gave up on them.

I used to have a different opinion,
but I've gone through a couple boxes now
and have found that more often than not
they are constructed beautiful
and draw very nicely.

I can say that I have smoked more Oliva's than just about anybody on this board, and I have only had one not draw...and I think that it was my fault.

most draw issues are a humidification issue rather than construction. Maybe they were shipped during one of those 90+ humidity days or your shop's humi may not be up to par.

This sounds to me like an isolated incident.

PM me if you have any other problems.

I have had the exact opposite problem with the G's and O's. The draw always seems to be too loose. It isnt that bad though and I kind of got used to it. The V's are just right though. I LOVE the V's and just cant get enough. I still need to try the Lancero size though.

I haven't had any problems either. Since everybody seems to think they are to wet just let them sit out all day before you light it up. See if that helps.
