    sun grown new blend?

    Just read this in insider...

    PATEL CHANGES
    SUN GROWN BLEND
Rocky Patel has worked over his Rocky Patel Sun
Grown blend, which was one of his slower sellers.
“I reblended the Sun Grown,” he said. The new blend,
which will be out June 1, is “fuller and sweeter.” The original
was “kind of dry,” he said. The change comes via
some Panamanian tobacco that he added to the blend,
which also includes Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos.
    The cigars have Ecuadoran wrappers.
In 2005, Rocky Patel Sun Grown cigars debuted with
scores of 90 points, but since 2006 the cigars have scored
    between 85 and 88 points.

Same here. I had tried the Sun Grown first and didn't care for it. Then I tried the OSG and liked it. Maybe the new blend will be closer to the OSG.

The Sungrown has been at top seller for us at Broadleaf Tobacco. I think that's because we are close to both the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. There's something about the salt air that adds a whole ne level of complexity and flavor to the RP Sungrown.

I personally have tasted this salt air enhancement on a fishing trip off Ocean City, MD last Labor Day.

In a discussion with our RP Rep, RockyRulz and I found out that the change in blend has become necessary because the old blend couldn't be delivered consistently over time. In reality, blend tweaks have been going on over the life of this product to try to bring the same experience to smokers from batch to batch.
