So, I got some new sizes you guys have heard of. The mk (corona) and the hl (lancero). As you know, the mk has been in the test market for a few months and has been met with great success. The hl is the newest in the illusione arsenal and, by far, the TOUGHEST cigar I've had to blend to date. It took at least 6 attempts to achieve the flavor profile that works best within the size. The key was the selection of Viso used in the blend. It had to enhance and compliment the binder and coverleaf without totally overpowering it. I think it works.

A size NOBODY has heard of yet is the e c c j 15th. What?, you say? Yep, I've kept it close to the vest. While in Nicaragua back in December, I was approached by members of European Cigar Cult Journal and asked to do a special release cigar to commemorate their 15 year anniversary. I chose the classic 5 x 5/8 x 46 corona gorda size for this venture. The blend is classic illusione flavor with a lighter, milder cafe claro/rosado Corojo 99 cover leaf. It comes boxed 15 cigars per box and, will be available exclusively through www.newhavanacigars.com. As ECCJ is an international publication, Dan at NHC has made the arrangements for world-wide shipping. Only 300 boxes have been made for this milestone.

And finally;
I will be going back to the factory, leaving Saturday, to finalize the blends for my new cigar - Cruzado. The sizes are as follows;

Dantes - 48 x 5
Avalitos - 46 x 4
Marios - 47 x 7
Marelas - 44 x 5 1/2 perfecto (give or take)
Elitas - 44 x 6 (cab 50)
Domenicos - 46 x 5 5/8

They will be packaged in simple boxes of 20 (ten on ten) with a filette and a hot-stamp in the top, similar to a Belinda or La Corona Cuban box. They will have a slight box press to add that "understated elegance" in the feel of the cigar and will be full in flavor and medium in strength. They will premier at RTDA 2008 in Las Vegas. Price has yet to be determined.
