Hey Scott, did you smoke them right after you bought them? if not, how long have they sat in your humi and at what RH% level?
I find the Italia box press burns alot better after sitting in my humi for 2 weeks at 65%.

I got them on 11-14. Smoked one on 11-22 and the other yesterday on 11-27 for thanksgiving.
My humi is at 65% sometimes it will get up to 67% if my wife turns the heat way up in the house and the bedroom gets warm, but usually right at 65% I smoked a CAO Cx2 on the 26th and it burned perfect like all the other CAO's I have ever had

I just bought some the other day but have smoked one yet. Maybe you just got a bad light job on them. The shape of the foot and the cigar itself can make it hard to get a perfect light.

We smoked 2 recently, and both burned even as usual. Sounds like they might not have had enough rest? Mine have been sitting for a little over a month.

I have not had any of my CAO's with burn issues in a while, like a year. I did keep them at 69 / 70 % RH at 70* and dry boxed them for a day before putting the torch to them. Now I keep a few each in the Humi at 65-67 % RH at 70* and can pull one any time with now problems, Draw always good also. I wonder if with changing the heat up and down in temp., that may have caused a small problem--Not sure .

I've not tried the CAO Italia, but I had been a huge fan of the CAO MX2, that is until last summer. I had a series of them that burned terribly or wouldn't draw.
I spoke with a local B&M about the problem and he said that Tarano has been taking on so much that CAO quality has been suffering. I don't know how much truth there is to this, but just passing that along.

I am going to let them sit for a while before I light another one up. All the rest of the CAO's I smoked to date have burned as perfect as can be. Didn't know if it was the box press design.
As far as the heat going up, was a one day thing since my wife turned the heat in the house way up on accident. The temps in my humi is usually 69-70 degrees. It's the best spot in the house and it just happens to be the bedroom so easy monitoring. That day the humi temp went up to 72, so not even too warm and it was only about 3 hours at those temps before it went back down to normal.

I have been wanting to try a few for a little while now. I may have to sneak a few buys in before Christmas and address it to my self as a bomb to me.

there is no truth to this at all. CAO is responsible for all of their QC. Sorry to hear about your burn/draw issues with the MX2, we did have a problem with that cigar but have worked it out. ALL cigars for CAO are draw tested before we put a wrapper on the cigar....try it again, if you run into the same issues I will replace the cigar or buy you a stick of your choice.
