I listen to a bit of everything. Lately I was able to get my hands on TONS of music by Joe Ely, an Austin picker that has long been one of my favorites. I had one LP (date myself I know) years ago of his called Live Shots, and recently got a hold of 16 other Joe Ely CDs, including the CD version of Live Shots. I made a playlist of all my favorite Ely tunes when the family took a one-day bus trip to NYC late last month. We left Buffalo at Midnight and got into NYC at 7:30 AM. I put on my Ely Playlist and set it to shuffle and it lulled me to sleep as we traveled to the Big Apple.
My son Ben (age 13) and I have a collection on my iPod that we call Travellin' Tunes. We usually listen to that Playlist when we motor out to Rochester from North Tonawanda for NWA Upstate's bi-monthly indy pro wrestling show. And that's surely an eclectic mix of music from the 60's through present. Here are the tunes in that mix: Crash - Matt Willis I Fought the Law - Stray Cats Walkin' on the Sun - Smashmouth Ballroom Blitz - The Sweet You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard Saturday Night - Ozamati Never Been any Reason - Head East I Need a Lover - John Mellancamp Shout - MXPX Never Learn - MXPX Ouch! - The Rutles Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who Walk This Way - Aerosmith Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel Cielo Drive - Conehead Buddha Travellin' Band - CCR I'm Just a Kid - Simple Plan Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet Dreadlocks - MURS I Want Action - Poison Permanent Holiday - Suicide Machines Winter>Sugar Boogie - Molkie Cole Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows - Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart Somebody's Baby - Jackson Browne Holiday Road - Lindsey Buckingham

Re: music tastes
Like a lot of you guys, I'm all over the place musically...Jazz, funk, rock, soul, motown, classical, reggae...Some of my favorite performers/groups include Tower of Power (the old-school, 70's stuff), Stevie Wonder, Paquito d'Rivera (met him when I was in high school at the Monterey Jazz Fest - really cool guy!), Dave Matthews Band (Carter Beauford is fantastic!), Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa...man, I should probably stop here as I could go on all day!

Re: music tastes
I'm also a metal-head at heart. My favorite metal band In Flames is coming to town... But I think I'll have to pass as it's standing-room only and I got a concussion in the Dethklok moshpit last time lol. It's funny, but if you listen to a lot of baroque music, you can see where a lot of inspiration comes from for metal.
I like techno stuff b/c it makes me bouncy! ![]() |
