Zacapa is a little too sweet for me most of the time, though it's still one of my Top 5. I love Ron del Barillito 3-Star, a fairly uncommon rum from Puerto Rico. Ron Pampero Aniverario is another favorite. I tend to like a heavier oak flavor in my rum, and not too much sweetness. My 'every day' sipping rums are Cruzan Single Barrel or Mount Gay Extra Old, both are readily found at the local liquor stores.

My first batch was a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile, bought the juice from a Maryland vineyard that imports grapes, juice, etc. My second batch was an off-dry Traminette (hybrid of Seyval and Gewurtztraminer) grown in Maryland at the aforementioned vineyard. Both have turned out very nice, I was actually surprised how good they were, all I wanted was something drinkable but these are actually enjoyable.

I'm getting ready to start a third batch, another Traminette this time, for my sister's wedding. It was a good year in MD, I've got high expectations this time around. I had a number of raspberry/grape wines in New York this past weekend (Finger Lakes wine trail) and I think I might try blending some raspberry juice into a few gallons of the finished wine.
