Re: Looking for opinions.

good luck, I've had an idea about having a shop

takes lots of money to start and keep a shop going until it turns a profit

I hope it works out, it would be my dream job, to own and develop a cigar shop

Re: Looking for opinions.

I spoke with an owner in Grand Forks (North Dakota of all places) who had a nice little place and she said she got hers going with about $75K most of which was in inventory. They built out the place themselves in a little stripmall. Really it was humidor, "bar" where the register was, a couple of sit-down areas in front and back with big TVs and chairs etc and a smoke-eater. But we didn't get into the revenue/expense end of things

Seems to me simple is good for this sort of thing.

Re: Looking for opinions.

Welcome to the Club. I know the area we live in has a dozen tobacco shops, but only a couple of good Cigar shops. All of the tobacco shops advertise "Imported Cigars", but only about 25% have humidor cabinets, and none have a selection of good smokes. If your area doesn't have a good cigar shop, you should have a good chance or making a go of it. One thing that the main shop Ninja & I go to is they have private spaces that tie into their humidor system where you can store your stash under lock and key. Good place to keep part of your stash hidden when you fall completely down the slope and don't want to scare your spouse with the evidence of the greatness of your fall. Having a smoking area is a must. Sells alot of cigars.

Ninja is the musically gifted one, so he would have to comment on the Jam session side of the equation. Don't know what effect the smoke and humidity would have on guitars. I enjoy a good jam session, just ignorant if there would be worries for the instruments.
