Greetings from the Old Dominion.
Greetings from the Old Dominion. I’m a newbie to posting on the forum but not to life or tobacco. I’ve got as much grey hair as dark and am well into a second career after retiring the after a couple of decades in my first career.
I’m finally at a stage in life where I can enjoy the finer things but am too cheap for cigars which is why I chose the way of the pipe. That said, I smoked cobs exclusively for sometime since they are cheap and give a damned good smoke right off the bat. Though I do have briar pokers, I still smoke the good old MM Legends more often than not. Old habits die hard. I never have more than four tobaccos stored at any given time, and two of those are bulks (from a local chain of B&Ms) that I always have on hand and smoke daily. One’s a straight black cavendish and the other is a VA blended with black cavendish. The other tobaks currently on my shelf are a tin of E. Penzance and a can of FM ATP, though I rarely smoke them. Other interests are rifles (particularly those chambered for the good old .22lr from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s and military turnbolts from the turn of the century and WW1) and handguns (particularly pinned and recessed post war blued S&W revolvers); vintage Swiss watches (particularly Omegas); most things glass (particularly art glass, early American pressed glass, Irish Waterford cut glass); and most things wood (turned bowls/calabashes). I’ve been reading here for a bit and plan on continuing to do so. Thanks. |

Welcome to the Jungle! I got to tour the Waterford Crystal Factory in Ireland in October, and have a deep appreciation for the work that goes into each piece....pretty incredible stuff.
