Lightbulb Stogie Tracker

As a newbie I realize the importance of keeping track of what stgoies I have smoked and what my impressions were of them. I have made an Excel spreadsheet that auto-rates the cigars based on the in-put you plug into the sheet. It is very easy to use, based on the fact you are able to get to this web page, i would say you would be able to figure out how to use it. Very simple plug and chug. Attached is a screenshot of what the spreadsheet looks like. The spreadsheet is sortable by any of the catigories, which makes it nice if you are looking for a certain size, of one that scored high on taste.. or an overall great cigar. This is accomplished by clicking on the little down arrow next to the catagory name that you want to sort by. too easy. Well if anyone is intrested just send me a message either on this thread or via PM and include your email address. The cigars i have rated have all been rated out of 5, but you can choose 10 or 100 or whatever you wish. ok, enough rambling, if you are intrested, ask, ill be happy top answer any and all questions.

Re: Stogie Tracker

I'll send a PM in a moment. Just curious if the average column is a simple numeric average or does the individual user have the ability to assign weights to the individual attributes columns based on the importance of that attribute to that individuals preferences. For example I would think taste and aftertaste would be more important than draw and burn(unless the cigar is plugged or something) to the overall impression of the cigar.

As of right now the average column is just an average, if it would be easy enough to add a weight system, if you want me to, just ask, ill do it no problem.

Re: Stogie Tracker

yep, if you know how to do excel formulas, then it would be easy to weight the averages.
or, you could do it on a 100 point system, but having each category weigh in only a certain amount (like "appearance" only being worth 10 points and flavor being worth 50, etc).

just an idea, not trying to fugg up what he's already done.

Thanks el tee. Now how about a palm pilot version....

just kidding.

I'll look at it tonight when I get home from work. Might have to add a column myself for a scanned image of the cigar band.

Re: Stogie Tracker

Looks great. I'm in. Until we can get the "Robusto" version of ClubStogie's own Cigar Database working, this looks awesome. Please Email it to me?

Also, do you still need beads? I know we talked about it a few weeks ago. but your address (APO, if I recall) got lost in the crash and I got caught up in a whilrwind of stuff. Can you resend via PM or Email? I just bought one of these for you last night, filled it with Viper's 65% beads, and can send it along later today or Monday.

Re: Stogie Tracker

I have a similar set-up on my computer. Mine is not as pretty, but it has seperate sheets for what is in my humi, what I have smoked, and a wish list with both NC and ISOMs seperated (right now my ISOM list consists of only one and that is ANY). Looks like your is a little better though, and I am always improving mine.

At first I started out with an Access database with linked databases for what i had instock, reviews, and addresses; but this was very cumbersome and took a long time to log stuff in. Perhaps I could make a simpler/refined version and share that.

The most simple solution to a problem is usually the best, PM me your email, ill send you my program, maybe you can improve it some, or you might find you like it better than what you have..

Re: Stogie Tracker

I waited to post my review here until I could check some of the information the Lieutenant had already had listed, would be of value. Well, let me say this about that.

Not only is it a great tool for entering your own data, but the recon Lt. Rich has already done, is worth picking up the “tracker” in it’s self.

Newbies, you need to jump on the Lieutenant’s offer before he finds out he can start charging for this thing. It’s become a great educational tool as well as a way to expand your memory. Hell, I loaded in my PDA and take the info anywhere now.

The Lt. Rich Stogy Tracker – don’t hit a smoke shop without it.
