Greetings! My name is Todd (now I don't have to post again on the first names thread). I am Lutheran pastor, serving two congregations in north central Wisconsin, near Shawano. The husband of my first wife (23 years), raising two sons (11 & 13).
I have been a cigar and pipe smoker since 1980. There was a time I'd puff on one or the other 4-5 times a day. That has tapered off dramatically as I reserve those occasions for when I can devote myself to the pleasure of contemplating and getting the most out of my smoke. Or, when I am out fishing. I enjoy spicy, full-bodied cigars - Corojo, Colorado, and Cameroon wrappers being my favorites. Of course, my all time favorite cigars goes against that grain, Padron 1964s in maduro - if money were no option, my humidor would have a few boxes of them. As it is... Well, I bargain shop. If I can get my sticks for less tha n $3.00 each, I do so. ![]() Residing in my humidors are: RP Edge & Edge Lites, Punch, 5 Vegas, Gurkhas, Indian Tabac, Camacho, Padrons, and a plethora of leftovers from samplers & 5-packs In regard to pipes, I smoke mostly Virginias or VAs w/ Perique. Occasionally an English blend. And rarely, an aromatic. I am not a fan of Burley predominant blends or Oriental blends. ![]() In my free time, I'm either wading feeder streams to Lake Michigan after big trout and salmon, or I'm taking the boys with the boat. We spend a few weeks of the summer camping, state parks are great in WI, MI, and MN, and we've seen a few of them - usually near water. Cigars and pipes are necessities for these activities. Some of you I may already know from other forums - I was a part of the AOL cigar forum for many years, but got off AOL in 2000. I have peeked in on Alt Smokers Cigar, and visit Your American Backyard Forum a bit more frequently. I was active on Alt Smokers Pipes, but don't do so as regularly anymore. I am also a member of a few pipe and cigar forums on Yahoo. It is good to find this place - after reading reviews on Top 25 Cigar for a couple years. I've been wading around, reading different things, finally registering yesterday. Looking forward to talking with you all. Last edited by RevSmoke; 02-21-2008 at 10:29 AM.. Reason: spelling error |

Welcome to the party Todd!!
I don't think you will need the standard warnings. ![]() The upper midwest is a beautiful place, and it is only occasionally loathsome in the winter, eh?

Re: From the North Woods
I have been camping in Brighton... I think... Isn't there are MI State Campground there? Was about 1994 we were there, I believe. Some yahoos were doing Karaoke till about 2:00 am... Walked over in my boxers, pulled the plug out of the socket... As the music stopped, they looked at me... nobody was saying a thing.... I put my index finger over my mouth and very quietly said, "shhhhhhh, it's 2:00am... my year old son's trying to sleep. If he wakes up cranky, I'll bring him over in the morning and sit in front your campsite while I try to get him stop screaming.."
They must have went to bed, cause it was quiet after that.

So, what's the standard warning here in "the jungle?" As far as loathsome in the winter, it isn't so bad. Haven't seen this much snow in our area since the 1970s. What is sad, isn't the snow and cold. It is that this winter, I haven't once been over to the Lake Michigan tributaries to fish for browns or steelhead. That is tragic! I have been swamped and haven't had the time.
