New Looking for Herf

I can see I'm going to enjoy this chat site very much. It's a good thing too, because the yoga chat site I used to frequent was really upsetting me.
Seriously though, I have been enjoying and researching cigars a little over a year now. There's so much to learn.
I am an avid beer-brewer and have made one batch of my own wine once (disenchanting - too easy, I missed the boiling). Cigars offer the same kind of romance and epicurean satisfaction that beer and wine offer.
My greatest concern right now is the impending cold of winter and the new smoking ban in my area. I can't smoke in my house because my wife asks that I don't, and you have to respect that, but I can't go to a bar and smoke anymore either. I don't care how good a stick I'm smoking, they all lack appeal when I must enjoy them outside in below freezing temperatures.
I'm interested in getting together with other cigar smokers in my area (Minneapolis/St. Paul) for a herf. I've posted a thread to this affect on the herf forum. If anyone is interested let me know.

Dude, if I didnt live in Texas. More so in west texas where its still a hot 87 degrees I would herf with you. I swear it's not going to turn cold this year at all.

But whats sad is that 87 is actually a cool day here. When its 102 or 105 its freaking hot.

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Good for you man! I suggest you go out and get yourself a Chamay bottle-fermented ale asap. Those Belgian monks have been propagating their yeast strains for hundreds of years. It's almost a religious experience. Ask your pop if he's had one, and if not, buy two.
Take care.

welcome!!!

I am also dealing with the return to cold weather and a local smoking ban. But I have that issue taken care of. I insulated my garage and threw a modine nat gas heater in. It gets to cold too early around here to be cooped up inside.

again.,...welcome to the jungle

I've found myself staring at my garage with similar ideas. I may have to take action to that effect. Did it cost much to run nat. gas out there? Maybe you have an attached garage? Mine's detached. I do have electricity out there, but not enough amperage for a heater.

I built my house 2 years ago. I had them put it in then....it cost me like 80.00 to run the line. but at the same time I had them run a sink with hot/cold, cable tv, dedicated 20 amp service, and then I put in surround sound, dart board, and some other amenities(sp?). I like having lots of stuff to do while working on cars

Not sure how much to run a line to a detached garage....does fire code allow a wood burner? you can get one of those for 100.00 at menards. depending how big of a garage you have you wouldnt even need to insulate.
