Hey everybody, I'm Brian from Western Massachusetts. I've been lurking for a few weeks now in just about every category (this place is pretty big), and decided to set up an account.
I'm a recent college graduate who is looking to expand my palate - the term newbie seems an understatement compared to some of you guys around here. I figure my humidor is small enough to share its contents with everyone. Judging by the amount of feedback people get around here, I'll be happy to take any recommendations seriously. Currently in the Humidor 1 Rocky Patel Decade Torpedo 1 Olivia V Torpedo 1 Montecristo Classic Churchill 1 Acid Kuba Kuba 4 Acid C-Notes 1 CAO America Robusto 1 CAO Brazilia Samba Torpedo 2 Kahlua Deliciosas 1 Tin CAO Flavors Eileen's Dream 1 Tin Helix Remix Amaretto Esplindidos 1 Helix Blue Robusto 1 La Gloria Cubana Robusto Just Smoked Camacho Coyolar Puro Prefecto #1 (The leading candidate in my "go-to" stick search) CAO Italia Gondola (Meh. Didn't do too much for me) CAO Moontrance Robusto (Nowhere near as tasty as Eileen's Dream) Acid Blondie (Pretty much what I expected. I can see why people love/hate these. I'll sit on the fence, for now) CAO Sopranos Associate (This one was great.) Literally, that's all there is to know about me at this point. I'll be looking forward to some pointers by all you Silverbacks out there! Thanks for reading the rant! -Brian |

Welcome to the jungle.
First and foremost, get those Acids in different storage. Infused cigars will ruin your other smokes. |

Welcome to the Jungle from South Hadley! I'd invite you for a smoke over at the Cigar Room (West Springfield) but due to the fire... :

Re: New from Western Mass...
Welcome to the jungle. Grab a vine and hang on.
And as already stated, remove the infused/flavored cigars from the rest of your smokes. Here's the why - the flavors will get into the other cigars and the specific tastes/aromas/etc... that should be there will be masked. Each cigar is unique. The tobaccos have natural flavors that vary due to environmental factors - soil, climate, etc... How those tobaccos are brought together in a blend will determine the flavor and strengthe of the cigar. Flavors or infused aromas, mask and/or cover some of the inherent flavors in the natural tobacco. This is not to say that one is better than the other. In fact, the other flavored cigars should be kept separate according to their flavorings too - or they will bleed together. Hope this gives a bit more information without muddying the water even more. Otherwise, take some time to slowly sample things. Learn what you like. And, you might learn that what you like is to try different things. Whatever you do, smoke what you enjoy - not what someone tells you you're supposed to like. I love to read different reviews though, it allows me to see what others are tasting in different sticks. I have also found that when certain people like a certain cigar, that means I will probably like it. By the same token, if certain people rave about a particular vitole, it probably means that I won't like it. Take time, develop your own palate. It is a great journey, and these monkeys around here are wonderful folks. I've been smoking cigars for a couple years now - as someone recently reminded me, longer than some of the chimps on here have been alive (I don't think of myself as that old - my kids are only 11 & 13) - and I have learned a lot. This is a great forum, with great guys. Enjoy your time here.

Re: New from Western Mass...
Welcome, Brian! I lived for a few years in Lenox (left there in 1985... before you were born.
)Glad you are here. Good advice given to you already... keep the infused cigars separate, and smoke what you like. Take care. ![]()
