welcome. was just in costa rica less than a year ago. I can't wait to return. Although I didn't find any cigar shops in San Jose, I did get to visit a farm and a factory. Beautiful country, extremely nice people.

Cigar shops and fabricas are all over the place.You just need to know where to look...

Sometimes, I just follow the rich smell of fresh tabacco.

[SIZE=3]Welcome to the jungle Tico. Boy, lucky you. I haven't been to beautiful Costa Rico in a tad over 10 yrs. Spent about 3 weeks down that way outside of Nicoya on the coast with my in-laws. Spent a little time once we landed in San Jose at the Hotel Santo Tomas and again before departing the country. What a great little hotel and the owners were so friendly. Toured the Cafe Brit farm on the slopes of the 5 volcanoes. Wow![/SIZE]

Nice to see a Packers fan. I must say that my loyality is with the Philadelphia Eagles.

It sounds like you had a great time and I am pleased to see that you did not do the traditional "gringo" vacation of 4 days straight at the Del Rey with the one day trip to jaco. It is very important to explore the rainforest and to have an adventure or two outside the city.

I hope that you can make it back soon. If so, I will make sure to introduce you and the other forum members to the famous Don Benigno. He is the man who imports the best tabacco from Cuba and has several shops around town. I had mentioned in another thread that I spent a whole day at his fabrica, watching the process, learning about the different types of cigars and fortunately, trying ten of them with endless cups of wine.

That my friends, was a great day.
