Just getting started in Baghdad

I am currently 5 months into a 15 Month deployment in Iraq. I want to get some cigars so my Soldiers can relax and unwind with a good smoke. If anyone out there is feeling generous or can help me get in contact with someone who is donating cigars I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

CPT Ryan J. McClymont

Have some respect for our BOTL's here instead of walking in and demanding handouts.

Re: Just getting started in Baghdad

Sorry,

I don't think I demanded anything, but if it came across that way I appologize. I am just trying to do something to boost the morale of my Soldiers. A cigar may seem like a simple gesture, but from my experience as a leader in combat, they can be quite theraputic. Talking about our experiences is one way of dealing with them, but lets face it expressing ourselves isn't our strongest suit. But give us a good smoke and we will talk your ear off.

For those of you who do donate and support us, thank you!

Apologizing and then making another demand. Amazing.

Your experience as a leader in combat??

You were the XO in a HQ Company. You are in the Engineer Branch. Before that you were enlisted. What experience do you have "leading in combat"?

Don't lie to these guys here in ClubStogie - be man enough to introduce yourself and what your likes & dislikes are in your choice of cigars.

Finding this place via a Google Search, creating an account, then demanding handouts and support, is, in my honest opinion, VERY POOR TASTE.

As I posted before, trying to be subtle by GIVING you the link to the New Member thread, apparently was a waste of my time.

Start your stay in the jungle by posting an introduction of yourself in the New Gorilla Forum. This is the first step in letting people get to know you.

There are dozens of us here in CS that are currently in Iraq, Turkey and Afghanistan. Most of us on 3rd or 4th tours or more. Don't make us look bad by demanding handouts for your troops.

My advice? Be a LEADER and BUY them out of your pocket, rather than using someone else's GRATITUDE to make you look good to your Soldiers. Then you might learn what a LEADER actually does for his Soldiers.

In turn, you will learn that the guys here will go WAY out of their way to support you with anything and everything they can send to you and your Soldiers.

SO, how about we edit that first thread and clean up this train wreck??

Re: Just getting started in Baghdad

I'm not going to waste everyone's time battling you on this thread. You have done a pretty good job of telling everyone about me. As far as cigars go I am less than a novice. Swisher Sweets are bad. Arturo Fuentes are good. This is about the Soldiers, not me.

Oh yea, I admit this tour I have an office job, that is why I have the time to write this, but there is a time in an officers career when he/she is a platoon leader. It doesn't matter what your job is here if you leave the wire you will more the likely see combat.

Let it go.

Ryan, Drop a PM to newcigarz, BazookaJoe or MACMS. They coordinate our donations to the troops.
If they dont have enough current stock, then drop me a PM and the BABOTL's will put something together.

Respect bobarian.
Ryan, tobii seems to be having a fit of some sorts.
Like bobarian said, contact any of those guys who are organizing the troop donations - most everyone here at CS looks to respect and honor the troops over in Iraq and around the world. Thanks a ton for serving our country -- Office job or not, you are doing way more than I am.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the advice. I am amazed at the generosity of the cigar community and the support you are showing to those of us deployed overseas.

Thanks again,
CPT Mac

Thumbs down Re: Just getting started in Baghdad

A fit of some sorts??

No.

I came in here with the plan to bomb the everloving cr*p out of "lawdog", just like I did with Diesel, Jsanc, Kev Vance and TRIED to do with Iron Eagle, but he wouldn't let me.

Then I read his post about "gimme gimme gimme"...bad form

Then his quote about being a leader in combat....bad form

Did I have a fit? No. I called it exactly as it was posted.

I even suggested he clean up his puddle, but that hasn't happened yet.

Then he replies with ""thank you for your generosity". Huh??

Coming in here, taking advantage of and abusing the fellowship and friendship of the forum, is pretty %$#@ rude.
