Hey Fellas, new rookie here to cigar smoking. I've been lurking information from here for a long time. My father in law gave me 8 AF Flor Fina 8-5-8's last Christmas. I finally dove into the hobby about a month ago. Ended up purchasing a small 20 count humidor. After gathering information from here, as well as my father in law I decided to purchase a sampler. Didn't get any familiar brands which, I wish I would've selected better now. Anyways I am maintaining a humidity of 62% with a temperature of around 68-69 degrees. Also salt tested my hygrometer and found it to be +1 off. I kept running over threads about getting a cooler setup instead of a small humidor. But right now with my budget I can't afford any more cigars!

Anyways other then that, I've been looking to try the 5 Vegas Gold and La Aurora cigars but money is pretty tight lately, and don't feel like arguing with the wife! Between my full time school schedule plus a full time job, and my medical bills wit my slipped disc, and her clinicals its hard to find money/time. I've been smoking mild-medium (858's) cigars to try and advance my tasting and identifying certain flavors. And have heard the 5 vegas gold is a creamy smooth smoke. My local B&M is pretty slim pickins and at that they are EXPENSIVE.

When I fire up the cigar everything goes out the window, I actually get time to sit down and relax. Not worrying about exams/money/working etc..

I think thats about it. I'll be poking around some threads now here and plan on giving the search feature a run for its money.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I use the humi-care crystal gel system for humidifcation. Which is a pain as over saturating it with distilled water sometimes makes the humidity shoot up to 70%. Hoping to be able to order some beads sometime soon.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I am actually in Manhattan, attending K-State. Although with the amount of hail/severe thunderstorms we've been having this week I wish I was else where!

Here is a pick of my sad humidor.. Underneath my hygrometer are my left over 858s.

Yeah I have heard that it has been pretty bad. Manhattan does not have the most plesent weather but it is a fun town. Enjoy!

That humi looks pretty good to me. The 858's are my fav so far. I only had two sticks when I joined last month so don't feel bad. It will fill up quickly, I can promise you that.

Actually I only know of the Discount Smokes I believe is the name, on Fort Riley Blvd. They seem like decent selection but alittle steep prices. The lady that runs that place ( or atleast the cash register ) though is very nice.

Are there any other shops? I thought there was one in the mall, but I didn't think it was geared towards cigars, more cigarettes.
