Buckeye noob from Columbus, OH

Hello Everyone

I have been lurking on this board, and finally decided it was time to introduce myself.

My #1 passion in life is Ohio State Football (counting the seconds until the USC game 9/13)

I am 37 and just started playing golf last year, anyway I was playing last month
and some random guys in my 4some asked if I would like a cigar.
Anything at this point could help my game, so I lit up a Romeo y Julieta Viejo (after I figured out what this cutting device was all about) and was instantly hooked.

The next week before I hit the links, I decided to hit the market and snag some swishers and a bic on the way.
Let me just say the experience was not great, which lead me to do some cigar research which included reading a lot of posts on this board.

These are my recent purchases the last 2 weeks:

125+ Cigar Humidor
a few crappy cutters, and then a Palio
Heartfelt 65 Beads
Digital Hygrometer
a couple butane lighters
Herf-a-Dor 5 travel case (for the golf bag)

To be honest I still have no clue what I even like, so I have
been trying singles and small 3-5 packs.....these are the cigars I have just purchased

Cohiba red dot
Graycliff 1666
Montecristo white, media noche, and classic
Padilla Obsidain Belicoso
5 Vegas A, Classic, and Gold
Petrus Etiquette Rouge

I keep reading all of these Taboo threads, do you think I should give one of
these samplers a shot, if so which one?

Any other noob recommendations?

The last two Sunday nights I have sat on the porch with a dirty grey goose,
and have been sampling new cigars......beyond relaxing

My 1 year wedding anniversary is on Monday and were heading to the Belterra casino,
now I just need to figure out which 5 cigars to load up in the case.

I am also traveling to Jamaica in a few weeks, so if you know of anything I should
try and get my hands on there please let me know.

PS
As far as the name "Atariman" goes just another one of my many obsessions from about 10 years ago, when I started collecting 70's & 80's game consoles.

Re: Buckeye noob from Columbus, OH

Welcome from another Buckeye. By all means try a Taboo sampler. Any of the Twists are outstanding.
Where are you in Columbus?
There are several forums on the board regarding recommended smokes for newbies. Right now I would say try anything you can get hold of. The fun of this hobby is trying new things to find out what you like.....and dont be surprised that your tastes will change over time.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.........there are many great BOTL here that are more than ready to assist.

Welcome from one Buckeye fan to another.

My brother lives in Columbus and visit him a least once a year. We herf the next time I'm there.

As far as recommendations, I saw that you like the Vegas Series A, I say try the Perdomo Lot 23 Maduros, Torano 1959 Gold Label and the CAO Mx2's.

Hope you like it here. Go Bucks!

Welcome!

Lot's of Buckeyes here. Don't hate me cause I'm a Gator

Sounds like you have a nice start on stocking your humi. I've been meaning to pick up a Taboo sampler myself. I hear great things.

Welcome from down the road a piece! Looks like you are well on your way down the slope- congrats! Have a good time in Jamaica, mon- just remember that most if not all those street vendors and most if not all cigar shops sell fake cubans! You're probably better off just bringing your own smokes!
