Greetings from the desert . . .
Hey All,
That recruitment thread did the trick. I decided to quit lurking - d**ned peer pressure! My name is Steve and I live in Tempe, AZ. I quit smoking cigarettes some 10 years ago and maybe five years ago started pipe smoking. I enjoy pipe tobacco and the tactile feel of a well made pipe quite a alot - however, a few months ago, when I was out of town and pipe smoking wasn't convenient, I picked up a cigar. I've always enjoyed cigars, but after getting ahold of a premium, handmade one . . . well. I was hooked. Now I'm in the discovery stages, trying not to spend all of my money while I decide what I like and what I don't like. It took me years to even begin to get to the point with a pipe where I know my preferences. There's always more to discover! My other interests mostly include motorcycling - that's my number one passion (besides my family) - and the usual: wine, food, travel, etc. This seems like an excellent forum and I'm happy I found my way here. -Steve |

Re: Greetings from the desert . . .
Welcome, I can empathize with you during your discovery stage. I found myself buying two of every new cigar I tried. One to smoke now and one to age a little bit; to compare and also decide if I still enjoyed/disliked a certain smoke. Good luck on your ventures... you will do good to keep notes on cigars you smoke; you will find (as in pipes) your palette will change.

Re: Greetings from the desert . . .
Glad you decided to come in from the cold, Steve. Welcome to Club Stogie. There are several desert dwellers in the Jungle! I recommend you watch the herf thread for their next get together.

Welcome to the steamy Jungle, from the upper branches of Prescott!
There are several Gorillas here from Phoenix/Tempe/Mesa/Ahwatukee; hopefully they'll put together a herf soon (they just had one 8/9). Check out the "Desert Herf Crew" in the social groups. In the meantime, if you get tired of the heat, head on up to the cool climes & I'll show you how to party Prescott style. ![]()
