Hello from Plano, TX - a few questions

Hey guys/gals,

I've been smoking cigars on and off for the past couple of years and recently decided to jump in and buy a small humidor and some cigars. I am quite the amateur when it comes to cigars honestly, I've tried quite a fer RyJ, Arturo Fuentes and a few others.

I have a question about the new humidor and cigars I bought. I received the humidor in the mail and after searching the forums I found out that I need to break in the humidor by setting a shot glass of water in it for 5 days or so until the humidity comes up to 70%ish. The only problem is that I have 10 sampler cigars here with no humidor to put them in, what would be the best way to temporarily store them until I can get the humidor to the right humidity?

Thanks guys!

Welcome from PA. Me personally, i would just put those smokes in a ziploc w/ some kind of humi device and through them right in the humi. when the humi's ready, take 'em out of the ziploc and store them normally.

The humidor came with a black humidifier device. So you think it'd be okay to just throw the cigars and the humidifier into a ziploc and put them in the humidor along with the shot glass of water?

Welcome to the Club

The cigars that you got are probably over-humidified and will be fine in a ziploc bag by themselves for atleast a week.

Season the humidor accordingly with some distilled water in the humidifier and a shot glass (usually speeds up the process if you throw the shot glass with water in the microwave first). Once the hygrometer (hopefully digital) shows it is stabilized, toss those bad boys in there and smoke up.

Welcome to Club Stogie!

If you use the wipe-down and sponge method it should only take about 48 hours to get your humi ready. Like "chip" said previously, the smokes will be o.k. in the zippy for at least a week.

Hello Ivey,

Any recommendations on some good cigar shops in the area? I usually get mine from the shop at the Shops at Legacy. Anywhere else that you particularly like?

Welcome to Club Stogie, Enjoy the Jungle

Tupper ware box will work just fine or a empty cigar box from a local B&M with a small puck
