Non-smoking <yikes> newbie with a question
Hi all. My name is Sally, and I apologize in advance if my posting here is not appropriate or in the right place. I've scoured the internet and these boards for some information, but simply can't find the answers I need, so I thought I'd go straight to the source...
Earlier this year I purchased a beautiful antique dresser from an estate. Tucked inside one of the drawers were some cigars, and since I don't smoke and don't know anyone who does, I have no need for them. I sell things occasionally on eBay and checked out their policies and it appears its okay to list the cigars if they are "collectable" and not for smoking. I think these cigars probably fall into this catagory, but don't know for sure. I've spent time over the last several weeks trying to find out information, but have come up pretty empty-handed thus far. I took some pictures of the collection last night, and inserted a couple below. The cigars are as follows: Diablo "Rumbas" - 1 box of 5 cigars in wrappers. The box is not wrapped or sealed. Cuesta-Rey 1884 Maduro - 1 box of 3 cigars. The box is still in its cellophane and there is a Dominican Republic seal on the box Punch "Souvenirs De Luxe" - 1 tin of 5 cigars in wrappers. The tin is not wrapped or sealed. Black Jack "Rigoletto" - 1 box of 4 cigars. The box is still in its cellophane. El Producto "Excepcionale" - 1 box of 5 cigars. The box is still wrapped in its cellophane. I have a feeling at least a couple of these boxes aren't worth much but could use some advice on the others. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give. I appreciate it! ~Sally ![]() ![]() |

Re: Non-smoking <yikes> newbie with a question
The Punch might have garnered some interest if they had been kept under proper humidification....tucked in a dresser drawer, they are likely worthless as smokable cigars. The only value the things might have are to Americana/tobacco collectors, but I doubt to any cigar "smokers".

Sorry, but I'm of the same opinion. Most of those are nothing special. Those punch would have been amazing if they'd been properly humidified. Maybe you can find a hardcore cigar enthusiast who wants em to display or something, but I wouldn't say they're worth much. Good luck selling them though!

yeah, what they said. i might be interested in the punch to see if they could be rehibilitated (i doubt it) if you'll let them go cheap.

Re: Non-smoking <yikes> newbie with a question
Thanks so much for your replies! I suspected these weren't of much value, either as "smokes" or anything else. I'll probably post them as a lot on eBay, cause there's not much else I can do with them anyway.
I appreciate your help, and wish I had come here first before wasting research time on the internet! Best wishes for a great New Year to you all... ~Sally |

Re: Non-smoking <yikes> newbie with a question
eBay does not allow the sales of tobacco, but there are some loop holes. Plus you would be unable to sell the Punch's on eBay because they are Cuban.

Re: Non-smoking <yikes> newbie with a question
i would still try to seel the Punch's by themselves. they do have the "tin" that they come in... so, you can always put in the disclaimer that "the contents are not for smoking - the auction is for the container"
that everyone reads over there (like on hard to find pipe tobacco tins that go for over $250 unopened).
