No, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try and roll a cigar. I did get a couple bundles of their black label cigars. I've only had 6-8, but so far no issues with construction or consistency.

I visited Don Lucas (tried to roll, and picked up some cigars), Hela (cigars were just okay.. the wrapper had problems and I kept getting leaves in my mouth - yuck) and Baldwin.

Baldwin is a tiny, tiny shop. Just one guy rolling cigars - but you really sense the passion for the craft in the owners voice. He showed me all the different leaves that he was curing and the different blends that he has as well. He asked me a few questions about my tastes and handed me a Robusto to try (along with some Dominican Mamajuana). Yummy! He ships all over the world, so I might hit him up for some sticks again in the future.

Where abouts was Domenico?

They are located about a 10-15 drive from many of the resorts. You can arrange to be picked up at the resort. Another traveller and myself were picked up at the resort and we saw them rolling the cigars and putting the cigar bands on the cigars. It was quite interesting. Then we were taken to the "showroom" where we could purchase cigars. The thing I liked is that you could buy a box but mix-and-match with differents sizes or wrappers. You were also offered a complimentary cigar that you could enjoy, whether you bought something or not. I would recommend a visit to this place. I found the cigars to be mild to medium.
