Hi Folks,

I've been reading though the board ever since I got back from a trip to the Dominican and got hooked on cigars. I've smoked them a few times before, but I guess I finally got a chance to try out some decent ones there. It all started with a Macanudo Hampton Court. Super mild, and a very easy intro for a n00b! It was a slippery slope from there. I toured 3 cigar factories (all small shops in Punta Cana) and picked up a bunch of La Aurora Emeralds and Platinums. I even had a chance to smoke an Opus X PerfeXion before leaving back home.

I wanted to thank the folks on this board as the information has guided me on my purchase of a humidor to keep my babies safe. I can't wait until it arrives! There have been tons of great Canadian specific threads which has been super helpful with my continuation of this hobby. For now, I'll be placing an order with Taboo soon as there has been such great response to their cigars on this board.

I have never toured a factory but intend on doing so at some point. It must have been a blast! You are correct - there are some terrific Canadian friendly threads here that will help you a ton. And help you with that pesky savings account balance eventually - something about a slippery slope?

I got my start in the Dominican as well. Did you stop by the Don Lucas factory? I was there last year and picked up some nice smokes.

Yes - I did go to the Don Lucas factory. Did you try your hand at rolling? I sucked! Took me 5 mins to roll an unsmokable mess.

I brought back a box of 25 Red Label Robustos from there. They've been pretty yummy. My only complaint is they're a bit inconsistant with the freshness (I think that's what it is). Some are mellow and taste very smooth - tons of chocolate / coffee goodness. Some others are a bit bright and bitter.
