Belgian (living in Mexico City actually) saying hello

Hi guys,

first post after browsing a bit. I recently was turned into cigars after a trip to Cuba with the company (yes, all expenses paid). This meant I had some spending money while in Havanna and decided to buy a box of Cohiba's, Romea y Julieta's and Partagas. As soon as I came back, went online, found this site and started browsing and searching for humidor tips. I now have these fine cigars in my new humidor and am enjoying them every weekend (as I never smoked before, I try to keep this new hobby a weekend thing, makes lighting up a cigar something to look forward to during the week).

It was a bit of a turn off to find how much these cubans are going for in Mexico so I'm looking for some good other brands I can find locally at better price. There's loads of information on this site I'm currently reading through but if there's some members living in Mexico City, some good tips on good shops would be very welcome. Also, what Mexican brands are recommendable?

Thanks,
Tapaz

After some searching online I found one of those LCdH (La Casa del Habano) just 5 minutes from my home (what a coincidence). It must be a very small one as it's in a small shopping center and I have not noticed it before (and have been to that shopping center). Thanks for the tip, I will check that place out.

Re: Belgian (living in Mexico City actually) saying hello

I'm so happy I started reading this site. After browsing for a while I read this topic about beetles and what to do if you find a cigar that has some.

Well I went straight to my humidor and started checking my cigars. I found 3 infected ones so put the other ones in plastic zipbags into the fridge. If I read correctly I need to put them in the freezer for two days and then another day in the fridge. Hope the others will be fine.

If I hadn't read this site my whole stash could be infected after some time.
