Wink What?!? Another one from Minnesota?!?

Hey everyone, I'm Spence from South-Central Minnesota.

I had my first cigar in college at the end of 2001. I couldn't tell you what type or brand it was (from a gas station), but I do remember that it was a VERY social experience. Good memories. I indulged in a few more that following spring, with the one standout being a Montecristo that I loved.

After a break of several years, I've gotten into a tradition with a college buddy of having cigars together to celebrate the birth of our children (he's currently ahead 3-0). We've mostly had gas station cigars, but again, it's been more of a social tradition.

Seeing as how my wife was due Monday and could pop at any moment, it's my turn to pony up the sticks. With my personality, when I start a project, it becomes an obsession until something else takes its place. So with that, I've been getting prepped not only for our smokes once my kid comes, but to also keep a small collection around for smoking for special occasions. I've been lurking around here for a couple weeks, looking mostly at the humidor and accessory sections, and the general section over the last couple days.

I picked up a 25-50 cigar glass top humi from CheapHumidors (this one), beads for humidification, and the other basics. I also have a few sticks to get started. I picked up 2 each of CAO Gold Corona Gorda, Montecristo #3, and Romeo y Julieta 1875 Cedro Deluxe #2. I can't until I get to light them up and start seeing where my tastes lie cigar-wise. I don't have a proper B&M nearby, but I hope to get up to Burn sometime and check them out (they're about 45 minutes up the freeway from me). I'd like to try a variety of cigars and find one I like and build up a little stock of that kind. My plan is to smoke occasionally (is resistance to the slope futile?), probably no more than 1 or 2 a month. I'm not a smoker except for the occasional cigar.

I look forward to gaining more knowledge and meeting cool people around the boards. I guess the kid will probably dictate how much time I get to spend on the boards.

Better go check on MrsSpenceMan and make sure she's not in labor...
