Hi from the Air Force
Greetings all. I'm pretty new to regular stogie-smoking, though I've been enjoying cigars occasionally for about 13 years. My wife and I are currently living the military lifestyle, which leaves little room for long-term friendships. So I thought I'd start chatting on a site like this and maybe make a few friends
![]() I've been enjoying cigars by Rocky Patel, CAO, 5 Vegas, and others for a while now, but lately have been getting into a lot of the Pepin blends. I recently "discovered" Tatuaje...holy Lord! Great stuff there. I've been lurking here for quite some time, but decided to finally post. Hope you all have a great weekend, and smoke something nice! |

Welcome to CS. What base are you stationed at? I have been to a handful of them with one of my former jobs.

Re: Hi from the Air Force
Been considering the Air Force too, but first waiting for a recruiter from the Dental Corps to come in. The Navy pitched their stuff well(same compensation by what I can tell).
Jedipastor, what is your opinion of "Air Force dentists? I havn't heard the greatest things about Navy dentists. |

Re: Hi from the Air Force
For those considering the A.F. I would recommend it above the other branches. Nothing wrong with them either. I have 20 yrs experience as an Airman and I have truly loved being a part of Big Blue. I was against any of my kids joining but if my son told me he was I would not be mad with the current economic trends. I am not rich but I have two in college now and a third going (my son) next year. Part of the reason I am still active duty. Not to mention I have gotten to enjoy living in Europe for the past 13 years.
As for dental goes here we have one of the best dental clinics I have ever had. Dental is not a bad job either. I am a medic that retrained fro B-52 crew chief butIf i new after just five years what I knew when I first came in I would have gone 1. Radiology 2. med equipment repair 3. medic. Oh! and welcome to the board. T

Re: Hi from the Air Force
From my experience at the AFB as a civilian sub-contractor I have nothing mut good things to say about the AF. If I could go back into time I would consider that as my career path.

Ditto to all the positive AF responses here, at least so far. I mean, any government job comes with certian bureaucratic problems and forms-in-triplicate issues, but overall it's been great. We didn't want Navy just because you're at sea for so long and can't bring your family--no way! The Army is a great outfit, but those guys are soldiers and their support people (I'm guessing dental too) have to accept those conditions. For example, in a combat deployment--even at a "base"--the Air Force will be in a hotel or some sort of building like that, and the Army will be in tents on the lawn of that building. Not a joke. That's why the Air Force gets so much crap from the other branches of service, but also one of the reasons we chose them Just my limited experience. Less than 4 years in here. |
