Hello from Northern Nevada-newby building a custom humidor, need some advise!

Hello, I am new here but not new to cigards. However, I am NO EXPERT in anything stogies and dont pretend to be so. I am currently building a cigar humidor for my taste as I am not into the wood structures as it doe snot meet my tastes, which is HOTROD era, plain and simple. I have an entire 40s 50s era bar room and needed something to match to hold some cigars.

I posted this question in the general section, looking for some help on a humidification system. here is the link and a pic or two of what I am building. Thanks in advance for any help or advise.

Nice looking box! You could go with an active system like a Hydra or Oasis, but I dont think its really necessary in that small of a humi. Beads would be your best bet. Most of us use 65% as the lower rh seems to prevent difficult draws. Go to Heartfeltindustries.com and you will find a bead calculator. I am guessing for that unit a pound would be more than sufficient, probably a half pound. Get a mesh bag or two and just place one bag on each side of the cooler.

Just saw your other post and size is bigger than I thought. Beads are still a good option. A few pounds spread around in bags or nylon stockings.

Thanks, it will be a lot nicer when the paint work is done. I really would like to think that beads would do it, but I live in Northern Nevada, 5200 elevation and almost no humidity, its dry as heck here.
