new kid here

Hi everyone,

My name is Carl and I just joined. I've been a cigar smoker for a long time as was my father but i'm new to forums and all the information you can get from them and the internet. I look forward to learn about what others are doing and why in this hobby and picking up some new tips and of course some new cigars to try.

Hi Glock,

I usually smoke a med full to full bodied cigar such as Don Pepin black or blue label,R.P. 92,and Padron but some of the medium and even mild cigars catch my eye,it really just depends on my mood and strangely, what i'm doing. For instance,if i'm mowing the lawn or working in the yard or fishing I like a milder cigar (like low medium lie Fuente or Oliva) but when I have a glass of swill and am in a mood to sit back and contemplate life I get something towards the full spectrum if that makes any sense.

Re: new kid here

I too am I newbee here @ puff. I have had a 25 stick humi for about a year. I have been smoking cigars on and off for about 3-4 years. My birthday is tomorrow and my wife got me a 100 stick humi - I am attempting to season it and fill it. I prefer the med-full when I can tolerate the weather out on the deck. I just got a couple of OPUS robostos today and have a shipment of camacho pre embargo, 5 vegas rustic, perdomo esv '91s on the way.

This is a great site for info and I can't wait to share info with all. I ordered some beads from viper and can't wait to see their performance.

Hi Harley,

Happy Birthday! And good deal on the humidor, your wife knows how to treat a guy but you'll be surprised at how fast even the 100 stick humidor gets filled. If you'll notice a lot of guys go to "cooladors" basically an ice cooler with a hydrometer to store cigars. My humidor is a 250 stick display model though I smoke 48-52 ring gauge so in truth it holds more like 175 or so.Usually I don't have it heavily stocked but lately i've been doing so because of the tax coming April 1. I usually use it to hold my more premium brands and those I want to age while my everyday smokes stay in their boxes. Hmmmm... I wonder if there is any reasoning behind naming ithe SHIMP tax a name that sounds like Shemp of the three stooges and putting it into effect on April Fools day?

Anyway,I have just now discovered the information available on these sites and it's really opened my eyes. I've been a smoker for a long time (26 years) but have never really had a chance to compare what I do with others so this is great being able to do that..one of the blessings of the web.
Thanks for the great welcome. You have some nice cigars coming your way to enjoy. It sounds like you'll be having a great birthday.
