Started a few months back with my first hand rolled (at $3 lol)
but hooked none the less. Since then I got a humidor (which im still having problems with) and moved on to some better cigars.

It's running high
I can't get the humidity to drop to 70%. It stays around 78% with the humidifer in it and 74-75% with it out.

Analog or digital hygrometer? If it's analog, toss it and go digital.

Did you calibrate the hygrometer? Even a digital needs to be calibrated when new.

How did you "season" your humidor?

Its an analog and I did salt test it. I have a sponge humidier (I think its sponge) and I seasoned it but letting a small dish of distilledwater sit in it for 48 hrs cuz I know water will cause the wood to swell.
Im going to get a digital hydrometer today or tomorrow

The humidity should settle a bit after a couple days. The cedar will absorb and release the humidity as needed to buffer the level. I'd wait a couple more days to be sure then check again.

Also, once you get the desired level, when you fill it with cigars, it will aid in keeping it at a level humidity, but still get the digital.
