Hotty Toddy From Alabama! Need some help

Hope everyone is doing well. First time on the website and decided to sign up!

I got a quick question. I just got engaged December 2008 and the night it happened I went to the local cigar shop here in Birmingham and found a magnificent Padron 1964 Anniversary Series... Was THE best cigar I have ever embellished in my entire life. Granite i'm 24 years old and have only been serious about smoking for about 1 1/2 years.

I have been thinking of getting a good humidor and buying the same cigars (Padron 1964) before they are discontinued so that each year I smoke the same cigar the night we got engaged. A new tradition i would like to start for me and my future family.

My question is, since i'm so new to cigar smoking, what are some of the Humidores i need to look into? Any other advice is more than welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hotty Toddy From Alabama! Need some help

welcome... as always with humidors bigger is better... u will be surprised at how quickly they fill up... if u are really getting into smoking cigars u will appreciate this advice down the road... if u just want to buy one box of padron 1926's and smoke only one per year u would only need a 25-50 count humidor... keep in mind when looking for a humidor the capacity is based on a smaller size (corona) so in all actuality they hold much less... here are some links to various humidor retailers that guys here use... also, use the search function (top right of the screen) and type in humidor and u will get 100's of informative posts... good luck

Good to see another Birmingham boy on the board!

You don't have to start real big Reb. I got a 100 count, & it does fine...It does fill up sooner than you'll expect though. You'll just have to smoke em' if it starts to fill up to fast. You'll for sure get one cheaper on the web than @ one of the local B&M's here in B'ham. Which store do you frequent the most here? You a regular @ any certain one?

BTW Reb... I hope you guy's beat the snot outa' Bama this year!!!

Welcome aboard. I would suggest a 100+ ct. My first humi was a 50ct and within a few months was pretty full. Now I have it and a 150ct. It just depends upon how many sticks you plan on buying and storing.

Welcome! A good 50-100 ct humidor will be fine if you are planning on just buying a few cigars here and there and save them for special occasions and whatnot. If you are planning on really getting into cigars and want to sample a little of everything out there, it's best if you just get yourself a coolidor now because you will quickly run out of space with a smaller humidor. Enjoy!

P.S. I hope we destroy Bama this year....can't tell you how much crap i'm getting here at work!

I've been here over 6months and I'm still dreamin'! Hahaha.

But seriously,
I have a couple of desktops, the most recent being the Torino from Tampa Humidors. It holds about 100 cigars, looks great, and does what it is supposed to do;
mainly beckon you from across the room to come closer and peer inside just one more time...

welcome to puff!

I go to Cigars and More on 280... It's by Full Moon BBQ. I live a couple of miles away, so I'm up there all the time. The selection & prices are great, the BOTL are great, & the lounge in the back is great... Anyway, I think you get my point. You outa' come up there & check it out. Rocky Patel is going be there in person Thursday night for an event, so that should be cool. Also... The 23rd is the Fuente event. You should check'em out.

Bama fans are the worst!

I'll have to stop by sometime. I know in Oxford they had a Cigar Shop that allowed you to come and go as you please (given you were a member) and always had locker/humidor available for your collection. Is it anything like that....by the way there were always people up there playing poker/drinking 24/7.

Yeah, It sounds pretty much the same. The liquor store is across the parking lot, so alot of the guys will bring something in with them. I actually just got back from there!

Oh yeah... Found out tonight the Fuente event had to be rescheduled. Sucks!!! I was looking forward to that one!!!
