Two caveats:

Do not use google maps to find them: 2 1/2 Park Square does not exist in modern times: "[LJ Peretti is] located on the corners of Charles and Boylston streets... across Charles from the Four Seasons Hotel and across Boylston from the historic Boston Common."

Most important: while friendly, the staff are... "Boston friendly"; that is, they are not gentle with tourists, bums, the ignorant, etc....Some folks find them to be a bit... gruff (I, for one, do not).

Oh, one more thing: Ehrlich is actually named Leavitt & Peirce Tobacco (they are the outlet for Ehrlich tobacco; the actual Ehrlich shop, alas, is no more...). No website, which is too bad, because they have all SORTS of "manly" items (you'll have to check it out yourself!). Here are some reviews:

From what I read about this place I will definitely have to visit there on my next trip to bean town. There was once a great little Chinese restaurant nearby there called Yen Ching Palace that had awesome Sechuan style shredded pork with garlic sauce. Really great over white rice and extra hot peppers. Will just have to make the trip some day soon.

Thanks for the link

Well, gruff is one thing - we New Englanders are what might be called infamous for that. But if they're the least bit stuck up or haughty then this wouldn't be a place I'd like much. Don't care a whole lot for fancy and stuffed shirts. But if they're like a lot of Bostonians then I'd fit in nicely.

Quite at home walking into just about any place in southie
