Hello from a Chicago Noob
Hi all. I'm a newbie to the sophisticated world of cigars. Been casually smoking for years (since high school) but would usually just smoke whenever I happened to pick up a stick while golfing or something. Now, as I get older, I'm actually starting to appreciate what goes into making some wonderful smokes. Thanks to this site I just picked up a 100 ct imperfect humi with a digital hygrometer, and also picked up some heartfelt beads. I look forward to getting more familiar with this hobby and also look forward to all the great advice that's provided by this site. Thanks and cheers!

First Newb question: the heartfelt beads came today. I got the ones that are in a plastic container that can simply be taped to the top or side of the humi. The instructions say to take the container and put it face down in 1/4" of DW to soak 70-80% of the beads. Then I read that to maintain the beads they can simply be sprayed with a bottle of DW. But, for the original "soak", how long will it take for 80% of the beads to go clear? Couple minutes? Longer? Just curious. Thanks again.

Welcome to Puff.

When I got my beads I sprayed them with distilled water. They turned clear immediately. I would say you would only need to put them in the 1/4" of DW for a few seconds. That should do it.

I'm actually in Chicago right now, visiting from Cali.

LOVE the architecture here! But I have to say I was a bit disappointed by Gino's East. Not as good as all the hype I had heard.

I'll be enjoying some juicy steak tonight though, I'm sure that will more than make up for it.

There's lots to do and see. This humidity is a bit much for me though. Gino's East is ok but you have to like Deep Dish to go there. I prefer Giordanos thin crust........best you'll ever have.

Where you getting steak? There's a lot of great steakhouses. Too many to choose from really......

Check out Ditka's if you have time......he has great food.....also sells some nice cigars. Had one of my best steaks ever at his restaurant!
