Hello all from H-town Texas. I got hooked about a year ago when I transferred to a new crew that smoked after dinner at the fire station. Before that I might have smoked less that 10 cigars in 10 years. Since that first cigar last fall though, I've smoked at least one almost every day!
I find myself drawn more to Dominicans like Fuente, Macanudo, and Ashton - however, I do enjoy the Flor de Oliva and Padrons as well. There's a local maker to League City, Texas called El Cubano I enjoy also. My every day smoke are Fuente 8-5-8's. My wife has told me that my first humidor will be coming on my birthday next month. I can hardly wait! Glen |

Re: Greetings from Houston, Texas!
I just noticed my user title is "smoke eater". That's a pretty cool coincidence considering my career and where I started smoking cigars!

Re: Greetings from Houston, Texas!
Thanks! I'm probably going to end up abusing this welcome thread because I'm slightly OCD with an affinity for knowing EVERYTHING about everything..
I've got to take my wife to the local B&M to pick out a humidor in a few weeks. I'm completely clueless at this point as in what to look for, how to season, and what equipment I need to buy to regulate humidity. |

Re: Greetings from Houston, Texas!
I gotta get my first one first! I've been using an old Perdomo Reserve Champagne 10th Anniversary box with some Boveda 72% pouches to keep the 10-15 sticks I have smokable.

Re: Greetings from Houston, Texas!
H-TOWN! Welcome to the forum. We had a herf at El Cubano earlier this year, what a great group of people running that place. Still have a couple of their cigars in my humi.

Re: Greetings from Houston, Texas!
Thanks for the all the warm greetings, especially from the H-Town guys.
One of you mentioned the herf at El Cubano, and that's actually how I found this place, when trying to find a website for El Cubano to show a friend. One of the links lead here to that thread with the pictures. Don't be too surprised if some of you H-Town guys get PM's from me in the next few weeks looking for local advice on where to buy. I spend most my cash at Specs, Costco, and Online. But will hit the closest B&M (I think) Santa Barbara Cigars on Westheimer & Kirkwood. Again, thanks for the warm welcomes! |
