Bostonian jumps right in!
Hey all! Long time lurker, first time post.....just kidding. Short time everything. A true newbie if there ever was one.
I'm thankful to have stumbled upon these forums, and I am thankful to see so many aficionados who have years of experience and knowledge to offer. The beginnings of this hobby were spawned by a gift from my long-time girlfriend's father, last Christmas. They're back west in Colorado and we don't speak much, so I was really surprised and shocked when I opened my package to see a Thomson & Co. travel humidor....stocked with 5 Rocky Patel 1992's! Of course, at the time I couldn't tell those apart from a pack of Black & Milds. Luckily for us all, though, they included a Complete Idiot's Guide to Cigars. Her father is a cigar lover, but I don't know him well enough to really learn anything from him regarding the cigs. It's a work in progress between us. I did a bit of research and appreciated the gift, but only recently have I really been sliding down the slope that is this hobby. It is a slippery one. From H. Uppman's Vintage Cameroons to the A. Fuente Hemingway, I have begun the endeavor of finding what I love and do not love. Today I stopped into an overpriced B&M in Harvard Sq. to pick up a few recommendations that I've seen over and over, and just finished my first Edge! Until I get a larger humidor, I can only have a few cigars at any given time. That said, they go fast! I'm glad to be here and I hope to learn a lot from everyone. I am always fond of a good single malt scotch, and I can't think of a better pairing to cure the Monday (and working on a holiday!) blues than pairing it with a stogie. I can't include pics because i'm a noob, but look forward to updates ASAP. Yeah. ![]() |

Re: Bostonian jumps right in!
Thanks for the welcome, all!
I just smoked a 1997 Cusano Corojo toro. Best draw I've had, with the H Uppman Vintage corona closely behind it. I used my new V-cutter and was extremely happy. I paired this with a bit of Chivas poured into the Waterford crystal my girlfriend got me last xmas. Tuesday night bliss! |
