Hello from Clemson/Rock Hill

Well, what to say. I'm in college at Clemson and I've recently started doing research as to what kind of cigars would be a good smoke... and usually not too expensive (I'm in college). I live in Rock Hill when school's not in session. I have a shop in downtown Clemson (Paradise Cigars) and a shop I've heard of in Anderson (Half-Way to Havana) to choose from locally, and obviously the entire web full of any cigar I could possibly want. I am a club athlete, so smoking is relatively occasional for me to not lose my lungs for running. I recently purchased a travel humidor that can hold 4 cigars and I had a small idea that made sense to me... but might not make sense in the cigar world. I tried rum runner a while back and while it was a terrible smoke in general, I did like the rum flavoring. In that said humidor, would it work to leave a rum runner in it with another cigar to possibly get the other cigar to pick up some rum flavor? Any insight is appreciated.

Re: Hello from Clemson/Rock Hill

First, welcome.

Second, if you want to taste Rum then you should drop the cigar, get a glass, and pour yourself a drink. The majority of infused/flavored cigars are pretty terrible, with most of the flavor coming from the tip of the wrapper, not the tobacco being smoked. CAO and Acid are probably the more common quality cigars of this grouping and can be considered more infused then flavored. Cigars are similar to beer in that you might hear a review or taste a beer and it could be described as chocolate, vanilla, sweet, caramal, etc. That doesn't mean they are making the beer with vanilla beans and pouring chocolate syrup in. Most people would agree they'd rather have a tobacco that tastes like chocolate, then a blandand usually cheap tobacco flavored to taste like chocolate.

Finally, if you're on a budget, I'd suggest trying Punch, Oliva, and then Rocky and CAO from your local places and the Legends by CI series, Indian Tabac, and Vegas 5 for the online stuff. The 4 cigar travel humidor is more of a case then a humidor. You'd be better off with a nice cigar box or even better a tupperware container or cooler.

No, your problem is you must be the only person at Clemson that let's the legal drinking age interfere with your drinking.

hahahhahaha. don't Sweat it. If you like rum infused cigars. get yourself a humidor that has enough height to hold a shot glass. Put you some rum in the glass and put some cigars in the humidor with it. It takes a good long time to infuse cigars, so you might want to forget about the cigars being in there for 6 months or so. Again, click the link I posted earlier in the day.
Please though, try some natural cigars in the mean time. You might just be surprised that you like what has been toiled over already.

Half wrong. And wrong. Many "chocolate" flavored beers do have bitter bakers chocolate in the mash, to go along with the chocolate malts. So you are right, no syrup. And vanilla beans are used in many recipes.

Give the kid a break! Your opening with a welcome was overshadowed by the superiority complex of the rest of your post, as well as the second post you made, (although I did enjoy the humor of it).
