Another Noob Checkin In
Howdy All,
Names Nick, nickname comes from being a sportbike guy and I ride a kawasaki (its all in jest, trems like crotch rocket, and ninja bike make me chuckle). First things first, I can't spell, and don't really care, so all are welcome to laugh as they may. One bud from a bike forum has determined that I have my own language, nickaniease. Oh I also have a tendency to lurk, write eaither really short posts, or really long posts that might tend to ramble, and I'm also pretty well versed in forum etiquite, the serch function is my friend. Next: In the grand scheme of forums, club stoggies looks pretty sharp. My compliments to you all. Clean, neat, great info, great opertunites, nice base of FOG's that continue to contribute even to the noobs, very nice! OK, my stogie story. Oh lets see I'm almost 30, so it would be like 14 years ago I first fooled with gars. Never owned a humidor and smoked a couple here and there on and off. In college the habbit continued, still I never owned a humi and would regulerly get turned off by the six month old sticks that I'd had stored in my desk drawer, wondering how they could be so harsh and nasty. Fast forward to 05-06, the wife and I head to Mexico twice for honey moon and work trip. The first trip I buy a couple there and smoke em, nice. The next trip I hit up one of my sportbike buddies who's in deep for some sticks. I guess you would say I got my first bomb from him and it stuck. After returning from Mexico I exchanged emails with him and he exposed me to good sourcses, like CI, and Cbid. I made an attemp to get in real simple and easy, an 8 count smapler which included one of those cheap branded 20 count boxes, a bottel of PG and I'm off and running. But low and behold this thing won't fit 20 gars, and I need more, and I need space for them to chill for months at a time so the green ones aren't too green, and I need a hygro, and I need need need... Basically my plan failed, not surprised. I found club stogie in my quest to find reviews that were not vendor influenced and low and behold stumbeled onto club stogie, where I've learned great stuff about beads and hygo's and all sorts of other good stuff, like what a herf is. I really have to keep things simple though, because the wife isn't diggin this and although she is tolerent to a point, I see her point, its not exactly like I'm spending the time away from my family doing something that is really good for me, yes relaxing, but a jog would probably be a better way to go :-) So my quest to upgrade humidors leads me to my first question which I have serched on yet failed to find an answer. I used cbid and managed to get both an el ray and the il domo for 66 a piece, I didn't want two, how did I end up with two? I hedged my bets as I was out for the evening and couldn't track the bids at home. I figureed for 66 dollar bids, I'd lose them both, not win them both! Ooops, wrong, just my luck. Now I know everyone will say keep them both, you'll need the space, but that just isn't going to go over well with the wife. And besides if I wanted that kind of space for that kind of money I'd get a vicksburg. I'm only keeping one, just to force myself to stay in check and not get the wife on the wrong side of this intrest. So I'm pretty sure I'd like to keep the il domo and part with the el ray. So in my quest to find it a new home is there not a section to list for sale items? All bike forums I've spent time in usually have sections for buy/sell. Maybe if for sale threads aren't cool, perhaps I could work a trade for smokes? Guidenance on how to handle this situation with in forum etiguite would be much apreceated. Anyhoo, hello, thanks for readin all that if you did, and big thanks if you got thoughts on how I can get this el ray humi off my hands and keep my wifey nice and happy. Happy smokin. Nick |

Re: Another Noob Checkin In
Hello and welcome to CS!
I managed to get through your thread despite the spelling errors, as you mentioned would be the case in your first few sentences. I'll warn you though, please don't be upset with me if I take a "red pen" to your future posts...the teacher in me ya know...can't help it! As far as your humi. sale or trade is concerned, you may get some interest right away, not sure, but it may be something you could wait on until people get to know you and you've spent some time here. Anyway, nice post and welcome aboard! |

Re: Another Noob Checkin In
Welcome to the club from another newbie.
Keep both and use one to store sparkplugs for your bike. Great to organize and keep safe. You will probably end up using it sooner than later anyway. If not, check if local friends might be interested so you don't have to deal with shipping it. Dave |

Re: Another Noob Checkin In
Welcome Nick, glad to have you here.
How come you only bought two humidors? BTW, I think that is an excellent excuse, I'll have to use it on my wife the next time three boxes of cigars arrive! ![]() |
