Greetings all..
Ive been lurking around this board for a few months deciding if i should join or not. well ive finally decided that this seems like a good place to be. posters seem knowlegable and well informed, but most importantly, the attitude and overall sense of community i get from these boards is excellent. like ive said, ive been reading posts for a while now, ive been a part of many forums and find them to be a fantastic source of information, and an addiciton  which is why im hesitant about joining new ones. well, heres a little background info on me, Im 27, i live in NE Jersey.. currently in school and working full time as a paramedic. Ive been smoking cigars for less than 6 months, but id like to think that within that time span i have asorbed a TON of information (mostly thanks to you guys and gals) Right now im in the phase of smoking every cigar i lay eyes on or hear a good review about. Ive already filled my 120 count danial marshall humidor to the brim (heheh i know im bragging bout the humidor, but when you own something as pretty as this you just cant help yourself.. and it was a gift from my GF.. so im proud of it) thanks to this wonderful hobby im slowly going broke, no scratch that, im QUICKLY going broke. i will buy 2 or 3 $10+ cigars on the weekend from a local B+M and tell myself... "These are for a special occasion, or for relaxing on the weekend" and i end up smoking them on a tuesday night.... its just so new and exciting, and there are just so many choices!!! i got into smoking cigars because i was quitting smoking cigarettes. i have always been facinated by cigars, the elaborate presentation, the alluring aroma of the cedar, and the persona of a stogie chomping badass. Ive been off the ciggs now for about 4 months, and although my health is better, my wallet is HURTING. Ive always been fond of fine foods and cooking, hence my fondness of cigars, i can only eat so much.... but if i sit down with a nice churchill i can enjoy a range of flavors for 2 hours!!! and then theres the collecter aspect... the thrill of the hunt, finding those rare little gems and stashing them away in my treasure chest... needless to say, i am obsessed... i mean im here arent i... when im not smoking cigars, im reading about them... Another thing ive noticed is how my tastes have changed in such a short span of time... i remember my 1st cigars, a Romeo y Juiletta, and a Crapanudo .... then when visiting my local cigar shop that carries botique cigars, i found out that he refuses to carry those mass produced sticks because they are garbage, and so began my path to cigar enlightenment Way back then i though My davidoff 2nds (private stock) and CAO Brazillia were the holy grail... i would reach for those smokes all the time, yet now i end up giving the PS away to the cigar curious (or smoke em when ive reached my daily budget) , and the brazillias i still enjoy from time to time.... but its not like it was a few months ago.... Perhaps i will write a "then and now" review of the aforementioned smokes. The evolution of a noobie and his palette.. anyways, time to shut up and enjoy a smoke an olvia G maduro if you are curious... its my new "flavor of the week" for around $4 a stick i find the taste and construction of the 'G' series to be excellent. i wonder if i will still feel the same way in another 5 months -hyp Oh, and if anyone would like to do a noobie trade with me, please feel free to PM me... doesnt have to be anything spectacular, just some nice run of the mill smokes. i know this is only my 1st post, and the wrong place, but that whole noob-trade-trade thing just confused the hell out of me. if you want me to send first i have no problem as long as you have a trade under your belt... i mean, if you are so hard up for smokes that you need to rip people off on a message board, just ask me and ill give you some for free. im not rich by any means, but what the heck, as long as you are enjoying them. |
