It is located in the San Juan range of Colorado, and though I never climbed it, I did climb Uncompahgre, the 14,309 foot neighbor of Wetterhorn. Here is link to a pic of Uncompahgre: http://home.att.net/~stanley.bender/...ncompahgre.jpg

Uncompahgre is my all time favorite climb and mountain, but I like the name Wetterhorn better. A few years ago I had a blog, The View from the Wetterhorn, meaning from the summit of a high mountain, but people came to think I was the Wetterhorn so I just kind of kept the moniker.

Awsome sight! Used to see Uncompahgre everyday when I lived in Lake City. Never climbed it. Always enjoyed seeing it when I was coming back into Lake City on 149 off the top of Slumgullian Pass.

Re: Whats the story behind everyones member name?

"Okie" is short for my last name O'Connor. Started when I was a kid. My first wife used it all the time. I lost her to Cancer in '97. After she passed away I never heard it used again. Figured it would make a good "handle" and be nice to see it one more time. Added the 2 since it is the second time around. Kind of keeps her memory "alive" whenever I see it.

Nothing creative here. Just my initials: Donald R. Celli. But listen, only my mother calls me Donald, OK? The only thing worse is "Donnie" which my first wife used to call me. I can't say what I used to call her. Not in polite company, anyway.

Mine's from a song that most likely none of you will have ever heard.

"Friends of P." by The Rentals....a side project band of bassist Matt Sharp's (formerly of Weezer, for those of you young enough to remember popular rock music circa 94/95) creation, including some other members of the mid 90's California rock scene.

"...If you're friends with P., well then you're friends with me..."

Wetterhorn? Very cool photo and story, and relieved to hear it. There's all kinds in this world, I thought it might have referred to a personal issue.

I operate a cardiovascular perfusion company, we run machines that keep people alive during heart surgery. Thus, Heartpumper. Corny, yup.

Is is pronounced with a normal W like wet, or is pronounce like Germany with a V (Vetterhorn)? The name seems kind of German.

Re: Whats the story behind everyones member name?

I have an idea for any admins out there reading this thread. How about making this thread sticky and moving it to the newbie forum. That way, when someone new joins they can go ahead and post their story and say hello. Just an idea.

MoTheMan!!

Most of my life growing up my nickname's been Mo. Many years ago a friend of mine called me MoMan. When I asked her how she came up with that she said that she had dated a cop who was part of the K-9 corp and that his dog was named MoMan. She said that I reminded her of that dog because I have a strong presence, I'm very people friendly (although I don't have a tail to wag -- LOL), but nobody would want to mess w/ me (I'm 6'2" and 205#).
Well, MoMan stuck. Several years later as I was getting my first ISP address I started using MoTheMan and have used it ever since. [Sorry SmokeyMo, never meant to take from your thunder]

Re: Whats the story behind everyones member name?

When I got my first computer I didnt know anythign about them, so a friend of mine who is a webmaster came over to help. This was also right around the time Happy Gilmore came out and we were calling each other "jackass" like the heckler in the movie. We grew tired of jackass so we started morphing it a little.

I was setting up my hotmail account and looked over to him and said "what should I pick for my screenname?"

He replied, "Hell, jackmoe, just pick something!"

The rest is history.
