Also, as I'm sure you've already discovered, the search function is priceless on this board. Many questions that even aged gorillas ask have been answered in some way/shape/form in the past. Welcome to CS! As a fellow newb, I can tell you I'm having a blast so far. Be sure to get into the Newbie Sampler Trade and PIF if you can... there's a bit of a wait, so sign up early! If you don't have smokes to do them now, you will by the time it is your turn!

I think the $20 Holt's humi is ideal for you. In your situation, it should be big enough for a few dozen smokes. Plus... when you get a coolerdor (or buy the "big" humi someday), it is still fun to have a "little" one to keep in view. I personally enjoy just looking at the darn cigars! It will be cool to put some of your showpieces in there... and with a glass top, you don't have to open it perpetually to show off your favorite smokes.

Finally (and you'll see this elsewhere)... PICK UP SOME BEADS! Don't even try to mess with the foam block humidor that came with the Holts Humi.

I just ordered the same humi... and the way the cedar "divider" is (with space for the box humidifier), you can simply buy some beads, a mesh bag, and drop the mesh bag in the divider instead of the box. It will work A MILLION TIMES BETTER. Do it. Do it now. (1/2 pound of beads + bag will be about $20... that will leave you lotsa leftover beads for future use. The cost is totally worth it... google heartfeltindustries for the stuff.)

Anyway... look out for the slope! The fact that you're in college and don't have much space is probably a good thing. Did I mention I have FIVE humidors in my house currently? (Ok... I bought three of the Holts humis with the intent of using them as gifts... so I'm not USING five humis...) Anyway, I've been here for less than a month and have spent far to much $$$... so beware the slope.

As far as tobacco shops, you need to check out these guys http://www.cigarleaf.com/ on Township and Stogies up in Rogers. Both have a pretty good selection and very nice and helpful folks.
