Any higher than 70% and you have a greater risk of mold.

New Gorillas
- Ask any question you would like that does not break a CS rule. Cigars, Club Stogie Questions... anything that helps your experience here.

Older Gorillas - Use search is not an answer. If you would like to help by answering a question... thank you. If you want to comment about the question having been asked before, that there was another thread etc., do it verbally facing a mirror and feel free to make constipated facial expressions, just leave this thread alone. Answering the question "and" providing a link to a good past dialog, if appropriate, might be a nice thing to do. Violations of this policy will get RG dinged by me and hopefully every one of my friends. (OK maybe 1 or 2 others)

The purpose of this thread is to create dialog and knowledge exchange between newer and older members and hopefully some of the FOG's will stop by to actually answer some of my questions.

Anybody got a question?

For example you might say:

1) climate/rain fall
2) inherent knowledge embedded in the ISOM cigar making business
3) soil/mineral content
4) quality control
5) Harvesting/ageing guiedlines

PS: This one will be short ----- varnished vs. non-varnished, what's the difference?

I put together a little response in Bling Boy's contest regarding this topic. If you leave out the gerbil info, it may be helpful. I can find the post if you want, but not until I get home.

I think you will get many answers on this question...I go with 63% for aging. Mainly based on reading and opinions of those with more experience. As the longest I have had anything aging is about 1.5 years, I cannot say based on experience what is best.

For me, the NC's are Bolivar Cofradia's and any Punch Rare Carojo. And as I am a confirmed bundle whore, Connies and Famous 3000.

ISOM's, I'm a bit inexperienced in this Dept. But I do like the Jose L. Pietro Cazadores, cheap machine made, but a very nice smoke. Boli PC's and the one that got me started smoking cigars when I was in Panama, Ramon Allones SS.

Those are my answers. Your milage may very.

Haven't been smoking many NC's lately, but always enjoy any Padron product and the Tatuajes. My go to Cubans lately have been RyJ Cazadores and RASCC(always). Didn't use to like RyJ very much, but it has become one of my favorite brands.

I'm not a FOG - but after 35+ years of smoking - - I'd say that for the NC side of things it I'm currently enjoying the Nording by RP. Venturing a little south and my current favorite from there would be Vegas Robaina.

I know describing how something tastes is difficult to do with any precision, but what's the difference between a great ISOM and a great NC cigar in terms of flavor?

In my short time of smoking Cubans - My personal opinion is that it only takes a medicore Cuban to outdo a great Non-Cuban.

That said - take the worst beer that you have ever tasted and let's call that the NC. Now take the best beer you have ever had and label that the Cuban. There ya go.
