Newbie Sampler Thread.

I'm a super noob, but have been smokin for 12+ yrs and have good stocks but no one has tried everything thats out there.I understand that purchasing can be quite intimidating for the noob. When I first started smoking I got info from lots of places only wish a forum like this existed, looks like there's lots to learn here. I've read this thread (all 5 pgs.)and it seems that there could be the possibilty of passes noob to noob or FOG to noob,from what I gather txmatt(not that I know him)should be applauded for his contributions to the noob pass. I'd be interested in passing some smokes. It does seem to help out BOTLs.

I am an ultra super newbie, so I honestly don't know where to find the new thread that was talked about. I would love to try the sampler thing and I of course would have to figure in extra for shipping. I don't know if anyone is interested in shipping to me clear over in Japan. I can say that I can smoke Cubans anytime and get them hermetically sealed next day delivery out of Tokyo, but I like the domestically available cigars better. (At 1/5 the price). So I would love to try domestics through this forum exchange. If anyone is intersted I will check here again soon. Or please tell me where the new thread is. Seriously in your debt. Ben

As I eluded to in Eef's bomb thread, I want a Z-Plus Zippo lighter insert. They run $10 at famous-smoke.com . A newbie interested in ordering and shipping me one will get a value added sampler in return.

What is a newbie sampler thread you ask? It goes like this:

1) A rotating pool/queue of 10 to 20 ESTABLISHED members offers to send cigar newbies a sampler of cigars to try. The Established Member (EM) sends cigars with information about each to give the newbie a sampling of good cigars that they think would be useful to the newbie to experience different tasting cigars.

2) The newbie decides approximately how much they want to spend on the sampler before the EM puts it together. Once an agreed value is determined the EM tells the newbie where to order a box of cigars or an accessory of equivalent value and has it shipped it to the EM. The EM mails the sampler to the newbie once the box/accessory is received.

3) It is important that the newbies be treated well, EMs should not get in to this to profit, but instead count on losing some $ by ensuring they send cigars worth a little more than what they receive. It should also be noted that newbie trades are not the appropriate place to send your dog rockets, unless you send them as extras noting that you don't like them but maybe the newbie will.

As a group we can iron out the details better if there is enough interest and enough EMs willing to do this. I have a few suggested rules below, they can be discussed of course.
a) Minimum newbie investment $25,
b) Maximum value of trade cap $150
c) EM should have 250+ posts and/or 6 months on board

As a current Newbie I'm all for getting a more experienced member's take on what they consider to be a good cross section of worthwhile smokes. I would rather invest my time and money in this sampler than go by the testimonial on a website. Who knows what the motivation is for those postings.

Don, I want to start an Official Newbie Sampler thread to separate activity from this poll. Look for the post and you and your newbie post activity as it goes down. I am SOOO glad to have another FOG helping me out with this.

Agent XXL is getting me the Z-Plus insert, I will put that into the Official Newbie Sampler thread as well.
