Yes We're definitely on. I made reservations already at Florio's for 15 ppl (sorry Jim, I know you told me it wasnt necessary but I had to do it to be on the safe side!)

I know this is a silly question, but how will we all find each other? This is my first time putting together a herf so Im a little new to this and want it to turn out okay.

Not many places left but I spend most of my time at Velvet a little storefront joint on 7th street btw 1st and 2nd avenues or the lounge at the Barclay Rex on Lexington (51st)

by the way Florio's no longer allows smoking. They were content on just paying the fines but the city came down on them so the last Little Italy spot is no more.

I take it this happened last week. We talked to the owner when we were there on 1/26. He had been to court with the city 79 times fighting them on this. He said he was going to court one more time I believe he said the 6th of Feb. He told us to call after that to see how it turned out. He still has a private lounge up stairs. He said any time we come down we would be "his guests". But it sucks there is no more smoking in the bar/restaurant. We were treated like royalty while there and am looking forward to going back.

I was just at Florio's on 2/9 with a friend and Larry (the owner) told us there was no smoking in the restaurant because of the legal battle he was having with the city. He informed us it that the smoking ban was temporary until he resolves the situation, but from what Im reading on here it doesn't look like it. I'm going to call Larry tomorrow and she what the story is. At the very least, we can smoke in the cigar lounge upstairs - thats an amazing little haven he has! Regardless, it angers me that these smoke nazis are coming down on a Florio's, a favorite for smokers and non smokers alike. I fear that eventually, God forbid, they will have to close down the private cigar lounge, too. I totally fell in love with Florio's, and this is one of the last few places left in the city where you can enjoy a cigar.

I don't know if y'all remember, but at one point during our herf I said something about how there needs to be more places like Florio's, and if Florio's cigar bar ever got shut down I was gonna get the heck outta this city and find a smoker-friendly town. Did y'all see the NY Times article about the tenants who are suing their neighbor because of her cigarette smoking? Im getting so sick and tired of these smoke nazis! I love this city, but my goodness, sometimes it's such a stressful and uptight place to live in.

another hard working american has to suffer. all these people who want smoking to stop realize how much we pay in taxes!!! they will be the first to biatch. then complain about a new tax on them:arghhhh::angry:

Maryland just went totally non-smoking. DC has a smoking ban too. Thank God Virginia is still holding strong!

At this rate, there is going to be no where left in NYC to smoke. Its already down to only a few places.

Suffolk county NY is almost totally shut down except for Moose Halls,etc
