Ashton VSG Belicoso Review

Hola Aficionados!
Today I smoked my first Ashton VSG Belicoso. Like what I said before, I'm in the non cuban exploration.

This is beautiful cigar interms of construction, wrapper is oily and almost a maduro in color and the band is beautiful. Smell good lots of eathiness and a bit of spice.

Cut perfectly no problem, though the cigar is a bit springy.
lited up nicely and start to smell a typical Dominican earthy tone.

there is not much to say on the 1st third, it's like a mild Padron, lots of smoke very mild and start to run.

Working on my way to the 2nd third of the cigar, I start noticing some flavor.
Very earthy cigar, some coffee tone but not creamy. and what an ash amigo!
It flakes so much, though it hold pretty good sign of a long binder and good construction.

Now on my last third of the cigar, i start getting some flavor again.
I want to say it's start to imitate the PSD4 but no complexity or even the the earthy spice. it remains like a strong cigar with lots of earthyness, lots of smoke, a bit harsh and a very loose draw. first time I smoke a cigar this loose, kind of different.

It's a good non cuban cigar, well made good earthy and coffee tone but not to much compexity.
I think, comparing the price to some non cubans like Indian Tabac or Puros Indios, the other two will be a good buy. I guess some aging will improved the taste. Puros indios is the one surprise me! there is some cubanish tone and for the price... It's a great deal.

Muchas Gracias, Salud!

Hola,
Having a great time! those non cubans are like isoms, you can't judge them by the price tag. well some of them taste like what they priced for!
Puros Indios surprise me, not a bad cigar for the price, Onyx? tried couple of them, looks like a corona gorda but what a cigar, I can't do a review because It din't taste anything. Rocky Patel? I'll take the padron anytime for the same price! (vintage 90 and 92) I got more non cubans from the guys to try still. I'm enjoying, learning and surprising me.

Salud!

Great review Rollito...sounds like at least the last two-thirds was much like the torpedo.

What are some of the NC's that you haven't tried that you would like to?

I did check your review btw. nice review too! I was thinking about your torpedo (cigar ) while smoking the Belicoso and sounds like we smoke the same cigar.

Anything from my BOTL will do me

Salud!

Nice review Rollito, I have been interested to see how you would judge these cigars after a strict diet of Cubans.

Ashton VSG...one of my favorites...in fact while the rest of the world is smuggling cubans from here to the states, I smuggle the VSG's from the states to here!

Try the Puros Indios Amigo, not a bad cigar for the price.

I go to Goldsmith...but I have to be careful, because I have seen fakes there before(we are not as developed as Cayman)....another reason why I keep a healthy supply of Dominicans on hand....

Next time you're over, PM me and we can get together....

Re: Ashton VSG Belicoso

Rollito,

I should pay closer attn to what is being written. Just saw this review. First off, you noticed the puros indios too! I'm down to my last stick from that box. Very earthy and spicy like a Partagas almost.

Good review. Kind of like I figured. Did you see any of the "like an OpusX" comments that have been making the rounds? Is this VSG line anything like an OpusX? I haven't tried the VSG line but will definitely grab one first when I visit the local est..
